The service is quick and friendly and the sushi is superior to the competitors. Their yam tempura roll is the best I've had and the complimentary ice cream balls are AMAZING.
I came as a single person into Yokozuna at 6:30pm on a Thursday evening. I waited about 10 minutes before someone seated me I was pushed to the side of the restaurant and given two menus. About 5 minutes later the man who seated me came back with a glass of water. Nothing was said to me. Finally after sitting there patiently waiting to order for about 20 minutes a woman comes up and takes my order. Chicken yakosoba and a California roll, nothing fancy. I 'm starving by now and still no food and this other man comes up and asks if I had been helped. I said really? I ordered food over 35 minutes ago and I have been sitting here for an hour!! He said so sorry and I said I 'm out!! I am never going back there again! What absolute **** service!!!
This is one of my absolute favourite sushi restaurants in PoCo. I've gone several times and have never had a bad experience. They are so nice and attentive and greet you right away. The food has always been excellent and the service is always consistent. Roll Combo B is one of my favourites and what I order frequently. The restaurant is very clean as well. At the end of each meal they give you complimentary dessert which is deep fried ice cream balls. When you order take out, you also get 10% off! Will continue coming here!!
I really want to give this restaurant a higher review after such a wonderful renovation and with great services, but I can't seem to get pass the fact that the California Roll tastes weird. California Roll is my go-to sushi roll whenever I crave for sushi. Their California roll... hmm... the imitated crab meat is quite mooshy... like it's been mixed together with lots of mayo in a blender. I have visited this place several times during lunch hour, and their lunch special is amazingly priced and delicious. Really, just the crab meat they serve is just... I don't know what to say...
Yokozna has become my favourite sushi restaurant in the Tri Cities and considering I live in Coquitlam, having to drive 15 minutes says a lot. I've been eating here for almost a year and either dine in or get take out at least once a month and just can't get enough. They have some amazing staff and service is always consistent. I'm pretty basic when it comes to rolls and tend to go for the Roll Combo B which includes the Cali, Dynamite and yam rolls. I find they are wrapped perfectly and tight which is of course important as you don't want it to unravel when picking up or dipping. Along with that we always get the tempura assortment which comes with 4 shrimp and 6 veggies which is plenty. The best part and always most exciting for me is dessert. It's kind of become an expectation which isn't the best seeing as this would normally be an extra cost, but the staff has started giving us each a piece of the fried ice cream which is my favourite way to end a meal. If you're looking for a new sushi spot do give Yokozna a shot, if you don't wanna dine in the added 10% off on takeout orders is quite the incentive.
