But I am a red fish eater and don't tend to enjoy white ). That being said I ordered a steak which was only diner quality. My companion said the perch was fine. The atmosphere is a cross between a low brow sailing club and a bar. It's unique. The terrace is an indoor room, so if you're looking to dine outside this is not the place. We'll try another place next time.
We have been many times to the Erie Beach Hotel for perch in both the Cove Room and the Terrace Room. Service was always great as was the meal. The pickled pumpkin was a surprise, no one guessed what it was the first time we ate in the Cove Room and of course the celery bread is fantastic. Certainly a must when in Port Dover.
If you want class the Cove room is a must! The amazing salad cart fills you up before you even receive your main course! And what do we say about the famous celery bread! The preparation of the fish is best in town lightly breaded and crispy in texture
The place never changes. Has been a favourite for years for a tasty and ample fish dinner. The celery bread with seconds no problem is one of the highlights along with the trolley cart of various salads. My favourites are the pickled pumpkin and the horseradish, lemon jello squares. The Pickerel dinner with a baked, loaded potato has great flavour and always my choice. Others chose the perch dinner. The chinaware and the decorating never varies and along with good food obviously has been a wining combination for this establishment.
This was my first time in the Terrace Room, but I am so glad that we "went for it", as we are normally an eat in the bar type of gang. There were six of us and we all had the perch lunch which comes with unlimited celery bread and salads right out of Meemaw's kitchen. It has a fancy yesteryear vibe and was spotless. Fresh flowers on the table, plenty of servers, delicious lightly battered perch. Make sure to visit the powder rooms! They are a fascinating mixture of the best of several decades! Our total bill came to $48 CDN (2 people) and we were full! We noted that the little take out stands close by served fish and fries for only $3 less than our sit down meal with tons of salads. Just go, and feel like you are in a late night movie.
