We had an excellent meal at The Berkshire. The perch and schnitzel are highly recommended.
Wow! I was completely blown away by the beautiful in-house scratch food with elegant tastes and delicate plating. I can honestly say that I have dined all over Ontario and this is really close to the best hidden gem in Ontario. The Berkshire offers a comfortable ambiance with food that absolutely knocked my socks off. The braised pork shoulder with a delicate apple cabbage slaw, and spetzle on the side was soooo yummy. The pork shoulder was melt in your mouth, and I couldn't get enough ... until ... I heard that homemade sticky toffee pudding with home churned vanilla ice cream, were on the menu. So yes, I indulged! And, it was gorgeous caramel delish! Oh wait, let me not forget about the Caesar Salad, with its bold punch of gaaaaarlic! I loved it. Thanks to Natalie, who offered excellent suggestions and was a perfect host for my first time dining in Port Elgin. The bar is set very high! Thank you The Berkshire ... cheers, Spicy Jan.
Had the beet salad to start, delicious. Pickerel was also wonderful. My dinner companion had the cauliflower salad and humbolt squid which did not disappoint! The feature dessert was excellent. Sticky toffee pudding is a must try. Service was A+. Thank you Natalie!
We waited at least 15 minutes before taking order for our wine. Only 6 oz. On menu or a bottle. Suggest offering a 9 oz. also.Waited another almost half an hour for meal which we ordered at the time of ordering wine!!!Waitress said there was an issue I assume in the kitchen. Schnitzel with mushroom sauce was not very flavourful and very thick and tasted a lot of flour. Rosti potato tasted off also.We have eaten here many times, particularity when it was Andres and always enjoyed our meal and the service. Very disappointing meal!
