First and foremost, we were greeted by the owner Sharon who was very nice and welcoming and did manage to accommodate our seating requirements since we were a big group. Nothing was a problem for her and she really tried her best to make sure we were all happy and satisfied offering us pre-dinner drinks and explained the menu on offer. We are a group of international travellers and we were amazed that Sharon was able to converse with us in perfect French, English, Dutch and German. From that moment she won us over and the tone of the evening was set. Then came the food and Oh My!!!! A delish!!! very tasty and nicely presented. We clearly loved the homemade Belgium style fries who apparently tasted according to our friends from Brussels just like home . The burgers were Premium and satisfying. The seafood platter we had was fresh and a regal. The apple-goat cheese and ham starter was not just delicious to eat but nicely presented. We loved the Roquefort and blue cheese sauce which were to die for. For the desert, what seemed to overwhelm most of the group was the sensational tiramisu which is one of the special homemade dish. Simply put in one word: unmissable. Even though we were a big group, we never had to wait too much in between dishes and the owner Mickey even came from the busy kitchen to introduce himself and answered a few culinary question we were eager to ask. Him and Sharon clearly are very proud and always think to please the customers giving them an amazing dinning experience. The food was in good quantity, very fresh and affordable. The Fish dishes were excellent. The service was topnotch and we all promise to go back to Pourquoi pas chez Mickey when we are in Port St Louis.
A great night with committed owners in a great atmosphere. Arriving late we were welcomed warmly. Looking at what the other tables were enjoying we decided on the burgers, a difficult decision from the large range of choice. We weren't disappointed and the prawn croquettes were also delicious. Both meals came with small salads and fabulous fries We took along our small dog and he was also welcomed with the chef/owner treating him to a small meal. At the end of the evening we received a complimentary liquor and chocolate with our coffee, All in all it was a surprisingly enjoyable night, at a restaurant frequented by many locals and families
We enjoyed a couple of excellent suppers here this summer. The most recent one saw us choosing a fillet steak a sirloin. Both were excellent, tender full of flavour. Normally I avoid beef in France but Monique who is the chef owner is very selective has a good source. The salads too are very good wine is available by carafe or bottle. The cafe gourmand is to be recommended. The restaurant is small, very clean the stainless kitchen open to view. The meal was very reasonably priced for the quality of the food served.
This restaurant was so good we visited it four times and worked our way through the menu. The food is ll freshly cooked and daily specials add to an excellent variety of dishes. Best to book as even in winter we saw people turned away and that speaks for itself.
Fantastic burgers, schwarmas, chips vegetarian options... Plus a great choice of Belgian beers. Mmmm! Plus excellent service and really nice staff. What more could you ask for?
