The pistachio lemon cake was one of the best things I've ever tasted. The banana cake was moist and bursting with flavor. Each sandwich we tried was made with a different kind of homemade bread, and they truly impressed us. We ended up buying more items to take home and enjoy later. The highlight for me was that they made me a decaf London Fog, something I rarely find. Very few places accommodate those of us—like nursing moms—who prefer to avoid caffeine but still want a delightful morning drink. As for kid-friendliness, the avocado toast was a fantastic choice for kids, offering a healthier alternative to the usual unhealthy kids' menu options.
A fun new spot for me in PT. All about tea, but also serving breakfast and lunch. Nice decor and atmosphere, knowledgeable staff.
This café offers delicious and reasonably priced food compared to other places in the area. We tried the breakfast burrito and the breakfast sandwich, both of which had wonderful flavor combinations. The hot sauce paired with the breakfast burrito really elevated the meal, making it an excellent choice for breakfast.
On one of our regular day trips to Port Townsend, we stopped by the local farmers market to pick up some goodies, then headed to Willabee Farms before deciding to have lunch at Café Tenby, the town’s quaint little tea room. We’ve always had pleasant experiences at Café Tenby, with consistently good food and their plain scones being a standout treat. However, I was taken aback by the pricing this time. Two sandwiches, which were on the smaller side, along with two scones (each served with about a tablespoon of jam and clotted cream), came to a surprising $44. I was particularly shocked to find out that they now charge extra for the clotted cream and jam, making the overall price seem disproportionate to the portion sizes. As much as I adore their scones, I find it hard to justify spending that much. Café Tenby describes itself as a modern tea house, but it feels a bit worn-down. While I’ve managed to overlook some of its shortcomings, like cleanliness and limited table availability, it struggles to embody the charm of a traditional tea house, at least not in the way I’ve experienced other ones. Even those that claim a modern approach don’t seem to hit the mark. Unfortunately, the window area was a bit dirty and there were crumbs and dust under our table. Moreover, during our visits, most tables are usually reserved—even though they state that reservations aren't necessary, there’s rarely seating available. My point is, if customers are being charged premium prices for small sandwiches, the establishment should consider making some updates or at least ensuring a thorough cleaning. Next time we stop by Café Tenby, it will likely only be for their delightful scones! Wishing everyone a wonderful summer, and let’s all remember to be kind to all living things.
Just had the best chai latte ever and an avocado on toast that was incredibly tasty. Very friendly service. Definitely will be returning.
