Contribuisci feedbackFirst off let's start with the food... I had fried chicken, fried okra, collard greens and mashed potatoes (and of course sweet tea). The food is as absolutely incredible and the service is as equally great! That's not the end of it I was traveling in Savannah on business and left my glasses at the restaurant and by the time I realized it I was back home in Indiana. I called the restaurant to see if that was indeed where I had left them the same lady who was our server answered the phone and was so kind and helpful. This is when Sweet Tea Grille stepped it up even more so, after being unable to drive back to the restaurant the manager asked for my address and told me they would mail me my glasses. I offered to pay for the shipping however the manager told me that wasn't necessary. This was in a Thursday evening and by Tuesday at noon I had received my glasses. This type of customer service is rare these days. And yes the food was equally amazing. I'm looking forward to my next trip to the Savannah area to tell them thank them personally and once again enjoy the exception service and incredible food!
What a pleasant surprise. Long distance drive and hungry as I crossed into GA from SC. Really craving a burger, and this local restaurant right off the highway between a motel and gas station had good reviews and an excellent burger menu. Next best option was down the highway in Pooler, GA, which has like 20 burger places and none of them greater than 3.5 stars, so here I stopped. Got the junkyard burger which is a half pound bacon cheese burger with jalapeños and mushrooms. So, like, 1500 calories. And it was greasy as hell. But...it was delicious. Honestly one of the best burgers I've had in a while. It is a problem that I have 350 miles to go and will shortly fall into a grease coma, but that's the future. Right now I'm full and happy. Taking a star away because the place kinda looks like it's on its last legs. Really needs a makeover. But the food, or at least the burgers and fries, are top notch.
This charming restaurant is located in a secluded area, hidden behind a gas station and opposite a hotel. We stopped by for lunch and ordered the chicken tenders and pulled pork with grits. To our surprise, both dishes came with generous portions of sides. We had potato salad with the tenders and fried green tomatoes with the pulled pork and grits. While waiting for our food, the server brought us some redneck caviar and chips, explaining that our meals were taking a bit longer than usual. The manager wanted to make sure we didn't have to wait too long to eat. The servings were so large that we were almost overwhelmed after the appetizers and sides. Despite the delicious food, we couldn't finish everything and ended up taking leftovers home. The food was incredible but we simply didn't have enough room to eat it all in one sitting. Luckily, we were able to enjoy our meals again the following day thanks to a fridge at our destination.
Talk about a diamond in the rough! I stopped here during a road trip to Florida; saw it on an I-95 S recommended food stops list and had to try. I actually almost missed out because they don't open until 11, but I'm so glad I decided to sit and wait. It is nestled between a few hotel/motels and gas stations off the exit road, but look hard! You don't want to miss it. NOW, let's talk about this Pulled Pork and Grits. First of all, who does that?!?! I have no southern roots to speak of and usually only like grits buried under shrimp, sausage, and cajun gravy. In fact, much of my Yelp journeys are in search of the perfect Shrimp and Grits. BUT THIS! It's a giant bowl of southern comfort. The cheesy grits base is perfectly cooked, followed by a layer of collards (mmhmm, I said greens on top of them grits, girl! with pork mixed in that tastes like it spent a lifetime in the smoker and just rolled off the bone by itself, topped with a hefty portion of crispy onions, and drizzled with perfection. Just...just go try it for yourself; trust me. I really wish I lived closer, so I could try more if their menu. I'm already trying to plan out my return trip route so I can stop by again! I do have to say that I REALLY wanted to give Sweet Tea Grille 5 stars, because their menu deserves it (see previous paragraph . However, during my dine-in experience, I noticed that they are not enforcing mask rules for customers. I was very uncomfortable having many customers ushered past my table without masks on during this pandemic. That said, they do have hand sanitizer up front, and staff are masked at all times, but I would like to see more of an effort on that part.
This was a very busy place, but we only had to wait five minutes to be seated. Ashley showed us to our booth, dropped off disposable menus, and took our drink orders. When she returned with drinks, she took our food orders. We both got the lunch specials, good from 11 2. Husband got fried shrimp with mashed potatoes and slaw. I got the veggie plate: glazed carrots, slaw, and cheese grits. I wanted the peanut butter pie for dessert. She also brought us fresh rolls and cornbread. Husband said his shrimp was good, but he only ate half of his potatoes and slaw. I ate everything. The slaw was nothing special like others I 've had. The glazed carrots were good, and the cheese grits were moist delicious. The peanut butter pie was good. Did not taste homemade. Darn! The meal was good, the service very good, and the prices exceptional. We are glad we ate here. As for pandemic precautions, staff is masked and tables are marked out of service to keep patrons socially distant. We walked into and out of the restaurant with masks on, but we were surprised by how many folks did not have masks on as they entered or departed. A sign recommended masks, but it was not mandated. Hand sanitizer is by the door.
