Restaurante Bar O Tachinho - PORTAGEM

We were in Mavao for a few days and visited on the recommendation of a local. On arrival we were served with a devine potato, capsisum and onion dish cooked in olive oil and a lovely chick pea salad. The meals are traditional Portuguese and...were the best we tried in the local region. Susanne, the owner, was very welcoming and spent a lot of time taking us through the local cooking styles she served. Recommended.

We found this restaurant by chance while looking for a place just for coffee. We ended up by having lunch and leaving with intentions of returning. Local food well cooked and with a very friendly atmosphere.

Beautifull view in a very authentic restaurant. Very nice people with flavored food that make feel part of the local population.

A small restaurant on the way to Marvao. We went there on somebody's recommendation and it was worth it. There was typical Portuguese food even connected with the region Alantejo. So, anybody should not have doubts about trying there some fish or meat. During our first visit I ate some cheeks in thick gravy. The owner Susanna recommended it. The meat turned out to be soft and tender. Generally, the cuisine there is based on regional ingredients and its simplicity is really surprising. And what is more, for those who have a sweet tooth I recommend to try some apple pie made by Susanna. It was delicious! Apart from that, it is worth mentioning that Susanna speaks English.
