It's very traditional in terms of menu, decor, and service, although they do have a few things you might not find elsewhere which makes a pleasant change. Portions here are large, but not huge - a person can manage a whole dose, just about, so it's perhaps a little more expensive than some other places - but, we think, worth that small amount extra - bottle of wine, olives, bread, main meal for 2, and coffee coming in at a tad under 40 euros.
I have been going to this restaurant since 1984, during the last 30 years Pedro has receive me always as family. The restaurant offer a beautiful family environment, with good prices and good food. I would suggest the Pork Schnitzel and Pork with shrimps. Also, when available, try the portuguese style broad beans
There are very few restaurants open in Portalegre on a Sunday. Fortunately for us O Abrigo was. The service was very good and the Bacalhau a gomes de sa was excellent. The house white was recommended to us and was very good indeed. Expect to pay €18-20 per head with wine. Not the cheapest but worth a visit.
This is one place where the locals go for lunch but also dinner. The prices are fair and the service is always polite and very friendly. The food is a constant: very good or excellent. You can't go wrong at Abrigo. I've been here several times before and I'm looking forward to be back in the future. Definitely recommend.
Visited three times in the last three years. Consistently good food! Excellent value for money. Good cod fish and other typical Portuguese delicacies. Excellent Sopa Verde!
