Unfortunately, they were out of the calamari fries, but that's a great excuse to return. The staff was extremely friendly and made sure to check on us regularly, which was a nice change from other brewpubs in the area. Definitely give them a visit; you won't be disappointed!
The note on the door indicates that the Sellwood location is closed until June '22. It would definitely earn a five-star rating if it were open more frequently. The beers here are outstanding, particularly the pilsner, Kölsch, ESB, and the red ales. The food is also top-notch, and when the restaurant isn’t too crowded, the service is fantastic! I hope Ancestry can do more to keep their staff.
This is my favorite spot in the neighborhood for comfort food and drinks. Although the dining area is smaller compared to larger chain restaurants, don't be deceived. The service is consistently friendly and the staff is well-informed about their beer selection. I ordered a BLTA (bacon, lettuce, tomato, and avocado) and left feeling very satisfied. Normally, I skip the fries, but both the regular salted and sweet potato options are really quite good. You can also swap out salads, which I've done before. It's a fulfilling experience—friendly atmosphere, enjoyable vibe, delicious food, and fantastic beer!
I 'm giving this place a 'Four ' because we got take out and my wife took FOREVER to get this burger to me. It wasn 't completely her fault. It 's the USS Canberra. It was cold by the time it got to me...and it was still DELICIOUS. I really want to eat here and taste the burger still warm.
Ancestry Brewing is a brewery in Portland where Steve and I tried in the not so distant past. We had two different beers from here, both came as very solid. Pilsners are usually my favorite and in this case it was from the two we tried. The pilgrim of Ancestry had this delicious biscuity taste that I enjoy so much. It was also a bit flowering and bitter, which matched this beer beautiful. The IPA of Ancestry was the next beer we had. It was good. It also had a biscuity taste in addition to Malty and Piney flavor to him. Good experience with this brewery goes from these two beers. This place is listed as closed. Google says it's temporary, but I don't really know when this place is to be opened again. In Tualatin there is another Ancestry Brewing Taproom and you can get her beer in cans in stores so there are still options.
