While there aren’t many gluten-free options available, I have a corn allergy and the staff were very helpful in identifying which pastries contained corn starch. Overall, everything was really delicious!
Be sure to try the homemade breakfast biscuit—it's a unique flavor explosion, featuring a runny egg, jam, arugula, and ricotta. They also offer a selection of delicious and distinctive baked goods.
When I approached the counter, the employee informed me that they had no record of my pickup and suggested I must be mistaken. I showed him my emailed receipt, but he just shrugged and stated, “Oh, that’s weird; we didn’t get anything.” I explained, quite politely, that I had already been charged, but he insisted I’d have to pay again because they hadn’t received my order. I then provided him with both the receipt and my mobile banking statement confirming the charge, but he told me to just “cancel” it, which I couldn’t do since the money had already been deducted from my account. I attempted to clarify my order— a sandwich and iced tea—only for him to say they didn’t sell iced tea and I must be mistaken. Once again, I showed him my receipt, proving that they do indeed make iced tea (hot tea served over ice). He eventually relented and said he’d prepare it. After waiting an additional 15 minutes and having to repeat my order multiple times (which consumed my entire lunch break), I finally received my sandwich and iced tea. However, when I opened the box, I found that the egg yolk had already burst and was all over the bottom of the sandwich. I had been eager to support another local business, and given all the positive reviews, this experience was truly disappointing. I had been looking forward to this for months, but my busy schedule always seemed to get in the way. Throughout the ordeal, the staff member never offered an apology and treated me as if I were trying to scam them. It was an incredibly strange customer service experience, and I have no intention of returning. There are plenty of other establishments that know how to treat their customers right.
Gross!! I ordered the mother’s milk. The drink tasted soured. Super confusing ordering as well. Don’t just walk up to the window because no one will answer and you can’t call either.
Unfortunately review #5 in 15 years: I was curious to give this bakery a second chance. I had gone before and it was mediocre but it seemed like they could use some business. Their website and Yelp say they close at 2; Google says they close at 4. I arrived at 12:50. The door was wide open and there was a tiny handwritten note on the door saying they close today at 1. There were no other customers inside and since the door was wide open, I walked in without wearing my mask, which was in my pocket. I felt safe. Within seconds a worker started yelling at me we are closed! in a loud and aggressive manner. Like I was a street person looking for a handout, not a customer. I was confused and started to ask what the hours were, why the door was open and why the sign said they were still open. Once again: I said we 're closed!! Yelling. The another person we are closed! Aggressive. Like get the hell out of here. No apology. No explanation. No thank you for coming. Nothing but get out! Like I was bothering them. Meanwhile there were 10 full minutes until 1 and they had a rack full of pastries behind them I know service is kind of in a shambles right now, but this is beyond unacceptable. It 's sad. I saw someone come to the door when I was getting to my car and the second employee was talking to her. I asked what was going on. She said she was issuing a refund and that they had decided to close the bakery early. Fine. Close the door then. I mentioned that it was confusing that the web, and their open til 1 sign on the wide agape door, indicated otherwise. And that perhaps in this stressful Covid universe they might reconsider their attitude and their customer service, and perhaps be nice to their patrons. None of this seemed not to matter at all. She turned it around and blamed their bad attitude on me because I had walked in their open door. And apparently because I wasn 't wearing a mask. I said I didn 't see a sign after a while she was able to find a small one, on the far window that I hadn 't seen. I mentioned that if they had asked, I would have gladly put the one on I had in my pocket. No response. Just attitude. I pointed out that I work in service and suggested that there is a way to make customers feel good about entering your place, even if you cannot accommodate them. That it might be a good thing to do in this fractious universe. This also did not seem to matter. No cognition. No apology for the misinformation or rudeness. Meanwhile I assume the rack of unsold pastries behind her will be thrown away; if they are not re sold tomorrow as day old. Will never go back. Too many other bakeries in town would welcome the patronage with better manners. They are rude. And quite mean actually.
