We're big bread nerds bake own sourdough and pastries using largely Tartine methods for about 20 years, enjoy finding great bread when we travel. Little T was excellent! We got: croissant (delicious, light, shattering crust and perfect honeycomb interior) kouign amann (delicious, lighter and less sweet than most versions I've had elsewhere enjoyed it, though stylistically unique for the this type of pastry, more like a slightly caramel lacquered croissant than dense, sticky sweet kouign amann I've had in the SF area or Brittany) Demi baguette whole meal country loaf we haven't cracked into this yet but a cafe we ate at yesterday served their fancy toasts on this Little T bread The breads are for breakfast tomorrow but they look, feel, and smell amazing. Pastries were top notch. The space is cute we will come back next time we are in PDX.
I really didn't like the pretzel baguette thing that the apple, bacon, chevre sandwich came on. It didn't have much pretzel flavor and the texture just felt kinda stale to me. I was hoping for much higher quality from a bakery. it was also a little pricey. About $13 iirc but it was really small. I probably would have needed three of them to actual satisfy me, even just as brunch.
The pastries were great but nothing to write home about though for me it's already a win. I agree with other reviews saying that the workers could be nicer. They don't smile : I might go there again if I'm ever in the area but won't go on purpose.
The baguettes at Little T Bakers have the perfect exterior crunch and Al dente chew inside. If I'm making a sandwich, this is the vessel! They sell sandwiches there, too, and their offerings are delicious. Croque Madame, albacore tuna in homemade aioli, turkey breast with Brie and green apple all fab. Salads, too! And of course breakfast offerings like French toast, egg, bacon and cheese in a croissant just to name a few. Legit croissants, probably one if the top 3 in Portland. Buttery, flaky and the perfect size. Laminated pastries, huge cookies, Danish, doughnuts, bars and biscuits. Little T distributes their products making it easy to pick up baguettes or pastries at Providore and other locations around Portkand, but every once in awhile I need to go to the mother ship! On those visits, I purchase a variety of items to enjoy over a few days.
What an amazing bakery we left Portland to live in Florida in honestly, every time I'm back in Portland, which is pretty often. I make sure to go here and have some of the amazing baked goods. Just buy one of everything ,you can't go wrong.!!!!!!!!! also, they do a really good job on coffee as well.
