This is my favorite place for sorbet in downtown Portland. MDI Ice Cream usually has a few different flavors of sorbet, and they change the offerings on a regular basis. Everything is unique. Some of the options you might find include blueberry basil, nectarine champagne, pear riesling, and mango jicama habanero ?!? If you are a vegetarian and ice cream fan, their dairy is locally sourced, and they have nutella ice cream. Yum. The folks who work here are always nice, and they are great about sharing samples. So, if you aren't sold on the scorned woman sorbet, you can always try it out first.
The ice is pretty good (we have Bay of Figs, miso butterscotch, and the caramelized pear) and I appreciate the variety and unique aromas. But the pots I got were smaller than my companion. Our cups looked the same even though she had a double and I got a triple.
That was spectacular! I appreciate that they don't have tons of flavors because I always feel like too many decisions means that they are more concentrated in quantity than quality. Small batch quality ice is the name of the game here. No, you can't get samples, relax, you don't need a sample, just select what sounds good because it will be.
Ice was delicious, but they didn't let you try the flavors that made me have a very hard time choice.... this is the first ice cream shop I have EVER that does not allow sampling... as I should know whether I like the taste or not... the workers were unfortunately not so nice ~ maybe you have to make employee training!
