When you pay $23 for a steak you want it cooked to your order Medium Rare. Not here the first was well done the second was raw. By the third steak which did not even resemble a filet. The bad part was the restaurant was not even busy.
We 've come here at least once a month. The place is always crowded and at times I had to wait up to 45 minutes. But that 's not the problem. The problem is they charged me $1.00 for a 4 slices of bread. Their arguments: We had 6 adults and 3 kids but order only 5 meals the first 2 bread basket are free then $1.00 after. Well, I don 't mind paying for the bread but: 1. We ordered some of the BIGGEST full meal available on the menu. 2. Kids just ate their dinner and they 're full 3. We ordered full bottle wine, oyster shot and other appetizer so it 's not like we don 't order anything else. 4. Here is the kicker: FIRST basket had 4 loaf of bread. SECOND one had 3 loaf. The THIRD one $1.00 paid) had 4 loaf. Did I get a left over used bread on the Second one??? I know the economy is bad and Sayler 's is probably trying cut cost so people don 't just go there and eat free bread all night long) or generate more revenue but c 'mon...they gotta look what we ordered. It 's losing its charm because they 're used to be friendlier and accommodating for families. I can go on and on about other things that went wrong but I 'd rather leave it to other to review. A friend told me 2 months ago that her credit card was stolen from Sayler 's. She was sure it 's Sayler 's inside job because the card was out of her sight for processing for at least 15 minutes. She hasn 't used the card 2 weeks before and 1 week after Sayler 's. Good thing she reported and got reimbursed. So watch your card! I paid my $1.00 and go my merry way because I ain 't coming back. They don 't need more customers anymore.
I was looking on the web for nice place to meet with friends which is a party of 12 and came across this site which I have heard of Saylors and thought many times to go. This was it until I read everyone’s reviews, looks like only one person liked their steak but to me, customer service is also at the top of the list when eating at a place and doesn't look like this is it. I want to thank those who took the time to write about everything that happened to them at this place. Looks like we'll be heading to Outback where we all have never had any issues, just was looking to try something new but think we'll look elsewhere now. Saylors, word of mouth can not only make a business successful but can also kill it...hopefully someone there reads these...
I am so glad I found this review site!!! I can't review about the food because we (my husband and daughters) were not able to dine there. We took a road trip to Seattle. So on our way back home we stopped to get gas, I noticed the sign Country Kitchen. So I begged my husband to pull over because I was dying for good country food after a long drive. We were so hungry and we had about 20 more hours to get home. So long story short. We waited to get seated. Granted we were the only ones waiting to get seated. So I decided to use the restroom. Came back a few minutes later, and still not seated. While the four of us waited...people walked in and they were seated...then more...then more...locals I'm sure. So after the last group got seated. My husband finally stated, “Excuse me we were waiting here for 15 minutes and you seated everyone else ...well he was ignored. Then when I finally had an attitude. The lady stated with a mean spirited voice...you'll have to wait. Needless to say...they were not going to seat us or serve us. Our teens daughters were surprised!!! We were never treated like that ever...as I look around...everyone was white. Then we felt it was a racial situation. We were a mixed couple, biracial kids....hubby is white, I'm filipino!!! For goodness sake it's 2003!!! Okay so this was 4 years ago...but still it really affected me. So if you owners are reading this...if this was not a racial situation...tell me what was it? I've told hundreds of people about what had happened. Being in the travel industry, I usually warn people not to stop and eat at your restaurant. So where did we end up eating? The Taco Bell down the street. End of Rant...sorry Oregonians but I rate my experience there as I do when I lived in Germany with my parents in 1975.
I have been going to this restaurant for 45+ years and have always found the food to be excellent. Their steaks are divine and we find it to be a reasonable value and have always received good service. An added touch is the peppermint ice cream to follow a nice steak dinner.
