We had been to this bar three times for breakfast/brunch and twice for an aperitif/ice cream for the children and found it charming and very good. We had chatted with Emma, a waitress from Manchester, who told us she was there because she had fallen...in love with a Corsican man. Tonight, impressed by the burger our son had had yesterday, we went back for a meal. We had to wait a long long time, though the place was not busy, to place an order for food and drink. People got so fed up at other tables that they left. We hung on in hope. Another family told us that they had been told there was a fault with the computer. A french waiter tried to explain after 45 minutes and we asked for someone to speak to us in English. Emma appeared and said there had been a fault but our food was just leaving the kitchen. After another lengthy wait the food finally appeared. It was cool and disappointing. When we asked for the bill, Emma brought it very quickly. There was no hint of apology. She complained that there had been a fault it always happens when we are busy and she had lost four orders. We tried to pay by credit card, but her machine wasn 't working. Again no apology, just moaning from. Emma. As we were leaving we pased by Emma standing at the reception area. I said that I found it unbelievable that after one hour waiting for our food she had not apologised. She brushed past me calling me a female dog Tripadvisor won 't let me use the word beginning with B). I couldnt believe that the seemingly pleasant girl from our previous visits had been so rude and abusive. I went after her into the covered area where she was talking in French to a waiter. I asked to speak to the manager and was shown to where a man in a blackshirt was folding napkins. I asked to speak to the manager and he summoned Emma. I repeated my complaint about her lack of apology. She dropped to the floor and with great drama on bended knee asked in French, what more did i want, she had apologised three times. She had not. My husband came in and asked to speak to the manager. The man in the black shirt waved him dismissively aside and said caio and pushed him away. Two more waiters suddenly appeared pushing and shoving my husband. He was thrown out of the restaurant and I was pushed by the man in the black shirt who was shouting caio, I love you. Another diners were staring. What a horrible place. How misdirected we ever were to think it pleasant or buzzy. Please, don 't there!!
We 've been spending our summers in Corsica for many years now and having toured practically every town on the island including what have now become ritual afternooon stop offs in search of authentic homemade ice cream, we have to say this place beats all! The...fig, cookie, strawberry and lemon ices are our firm favorites. We normally buy at the counter and walk across to the waterfront cone in hand to relsih but they even sell take away tubs of most flavours which is great when we need to stash some away in the freezer for a real treat on a lazy afternoon on the terrace and so much better than supermarket bought!
