Cilpper Tavern - Portsmouth

Stopped in while traveling. Community pub vibe, food was good. Mac daddy burger was overdone but tasted good. Hand cut fries were well done, brown and crispy, which I like but maybe not for everyone. Great job on the wings, like the variety of dry rubs available.

Loved the local community feel! We were traveling and arrived very late and most everything else was closed but thank goodness because we found Clipper Tavern! The bartender, Jill was so friendly and the hot was so good! We ordered pretzel bites, fried pickles, chicken tenders, and the poutine. Thank you Clipper Tavern!

While traveling through the city, we stopped for a meal and had a delightful experience! The sports bar vibe was exactly what we enjoy. The food was fantastic, with delicious meatball sliders and chicken piccata. However, the highlight of our visit was our incredibly friendly bartender, Jill. She made our night with her warmth and hospitality, making us feel right at home. Thank you, Jill! If we find ourselves in the area again, we will definitely come back!

Delicious fish, beef, and hot pastrami with cheese. There are so many mouthwatering options on the menu. The fries taste like sweet potatoes. The service is outstanding, and our server recommended the most popular dishes (all fresh) while honestly advising us on what to avoid when we inquired. This level of service deserves 10 stars! Highly recommended.

We chose to sit outside since we didn't want to disturb other patrons, and it was rather quiet with no one else there. Our waitress was friendly and professional, and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Unfortunately, we experienced a long wait for our drinks and food – over thirty minutes just for drinks – even though there were several empty tables inside and only a few people at the bar. When the food finally arrived, it was good, but the drinks were excessively strong and not very traditional. I’m not opposed to a stronger cocktail, but when the taste of alcohol overshadows everything else, it’s a bit much. Overall, it's not a bad spot for small gatherings or a date, but I wouldn't recommend it for larger parties or groups.
