Raleigh Wine Eatery - Portsmouth

Came here in the restaurant week and it was not disappointed! For the first dish I got the Crispy Pig Head green tomato preserve and that was on the best dishes I ever had! The pig was delicious and perfectly paired with the dijon on it. The second dish I got was Pork Belly Clam Stew, which was also great and had a beautiful broth accompanied the protein. For the dessert part I tried the dessert soup from curiosity and it was tasty, but would have preferred a regular apple crack over a watery version. Overall the trip was excellent, the server was great and the environment in bright and welcoming. I want to go back.

We went there during the week of the restaurant, so it was a very limited menu. I had the shells as an appetizer and cod as the main course. Both were very tasteful. You have a very nice outdoor terrace overlooking the bridge.

The menu is both intriguing and imaginative. The outdoor seating is fantastic, with plenty of tables offering views of the bridge and shade from the building for dinner. I tried the pressed pig head, which was crispy on the inside and tender on the outside. The mushrooms paired with quiche and potatoes were the highlight of my meal, and I really enjoyed them. The ginger cake with cranberries was delightful as well. The service was attentive and friendly throughout my visit.

We absolutely love this restaurant and visit frequently. The menu is modest, yet the food is simple, creative, and of excellent quality (I always order the cheese board!). The cocktails are fantastic, and there’s a nice variety of beer and wine. The small staff is attentive, friendly, and well-informed. It's also a great place for people-watching, both inside and outside. It’s definitely one of my favorite spots in town!

Raleigh provides one of the finest outdoor dining experiences in Portsmouth, especially when the weather is pleasant. It’s consistently a fantastic choice for drinks, small plates, and desserts. On this particular visit, we had outdoor reservations but decided to dine indoors since the weather forecast turned out to be inaccurate and it wasn't as nice as we had hoped. They frequently update their menu, ensuring there are always new dishes to explore, but it’s wise to check the menu in advance to make sure there’s something you'll enjoy, as your favorite dish from last time may not be available on your next visit. The staff is exceptional and very knowledgeable about both the menu and wine pairings, so definitely take advantage of their expertise. Overall, Raleigh is a wonderful place to kick off or wrap up your evening in downtown Portsmouth.
