Contribuisci feedbackMy husband and me were bored with whole snow situation a week before the Valentine 's Day and we decided to drive to an old spot we had visited many times in the past The Old Angler 's Inn at 10801 McArtur Blvd, Potomac, MD. We were not very impressed with the restaurant week menu selection before, but we decided maybe they will compensate with better options now? We were greated by glassy looking Maitre 'd at the door and we were escorted to a table near the window overlooking the parking lot in front of the establishment. Table #6 said the spanish waiter is the best in the house, always reserved! We were offered $20.00 bottles of wine, but the single glass was $8? We asked for the regular menu, the waiter (a short spanish looking) he kept pushing a prefix $35 menu with no choice but New York stake as entree? My husband picked asparagus and artichoke for an appetiser... and Scallops Risoto for entree. They did not have asparagus...hmmm. I picked up the Prefix: soup, NY 10 oz steak Medium Rare and the creme brulee. Mushroom soup was good but not WOW, the Scallops stinked with bad odor. NY steak was overcooked. I asked the waiter, he said the food is from before the snow, fresh delivery will be next day for Valentine 's Day. I remembered the news “power outage in Bethesda and Potomac”. Connecting the dotts we figured out we better leave before we get sick. The refrigerators did not work 2 days or more in the restaurant until the electricity was restored. That is why the cheap wine bottles and 10 oz steaks were pushed...We paid the bill and run to the exit, promissing to ourselfs never to come here again. On the way out we were not asked how was the service or how was our dinning experience? The glassy looking Maitre 'd was fighting with a tall handsome greek looking captain about something. We grabbed our coats at the coat check and run toward the parking lot. We learned later that the new owner is the son of the Old greek lady, who passed away 5 years before. We have seen him drunk and loud many times with his wife and his kids running around, we thought it was cute, but after that experience with our food we are changing our mind. The spanish server we have seen before, we checked on his name. His immigration status is illegal for last 15 years. Ok, there is nothing left to say, drunk and loud day care center, cheap wine to disguise for spoiled food, illegal alliens, glassy Maitre’d also Spanish.... Bravo and good luck Old Anglers Inn.
The wait staff ignores you take your order put it in front of you and take away the dishes (whether you're finished or not). The food is not good the prices are way too high and the noise level is unbearable. Drink prices are outrageous. Save your money don't go to this place.
My wife and I took friend to dinner at Old Angler’s Inn and I want to say it was one of the worst experiences we ever encountered. First off, I made my reservation with Open Table and when I checked this evening for credit, I noticed it was still not credited. Anyway, onto the dinner. We sat down and ordered drinks. After about 15 minutes we received them. My wife’s cosmo was awful, the gin and tonic ordered by one of our friends was fine, my other friend’s martini was served in a white wine glass and my moheto was also served in a white wine glass. We returned the martini and moheto because they were both awful. I am not sure if there was any rum in my drink. So, we me the wise decision to order a bottle of wine. Next we ordered our meals. Our appetizers arrived and we had mix reviews. My wife got oysters and she said they were not up to par. About 45 minutes later the waiter took my plate but the other three empty appetizer plates remained on the table. We waited for the waiter to come back and take the rest of the plates and bring our entrées but it never happened. Finally around 9:30 (we sat down at 7:30) I went inside and requested to speak to the manager. I told her that he has been at the restaurant for two hours and we are still waiting for our entrées and that the waiter never removed three of the four plates from our appetizers. She apologized and came over to the table with me. She had a couple of waiters take our appetizer plates and she brought over a bottle of wine (on the house). We then received our entries (finally). The next thing we know the waiter drops the check on the table. He never offered us desert or coffee. I went back inside and spoke again to the manager about how we were never offered dessert or coffee. The owner came by and told me that due to the holiday weekend (Memorial Day) they were very busy. He offered me a $50 gift card to the restaurant. The meal was over $240 and I have to say it was one of the worst meals and experiences I ever had. The owner tried to come off as sincere but after this dreadful experience I seriously doubt it. We left without desert and came back to my house for after dinner drinks. We will use the $50 gift card for drinks (wine and/or beer) since they couldn’t even pour a decent drink and not eat there ever again.
