Everyone ordered their mains and while we had to wait a bit, cheese sticks and bread were brought out as appetizers. Once our mains arrived, we were also served two big dishes of assorted vegetables, a dish of chips, a dish of red cabbage, and a dish of dauphinoise potatoes. The variety of dishes was impressive and the prices were reasonable. We will definitely be returning, although another vegetarian option would be a nice addition. Thank you for the great service, we will be back soon.
The restaurant has a great appearance with two distinctively colored dining areas that were quite busy by 7pm, indicating good quality. They also offer a good selection of ales. Located near the charming village of Montgomery.
Myself and my family visited last weekend on Sunday for lunch to celebrate a birthday. We found a couple of locals in the wonderfully cosy, inviting bar. We enjoyed a drink whilst we perused the menu which was extended for a Sunday lunchtime, it offered the traditional roasts but also pub classics such as steaks and gammon, egg and chips! I opted for the roast chicken. I was far from disappointed. I had half of the chicken breast on my plate (quite literally it was in one piece! It was tasty and moist the vegetables were all fresh and more than we could finish and the gravy was what I call 'proper gravy ', none of this watery stuff! It was thick and tasted great. The staff/service was wonderful, attentive and friendly. It was obvious that nothing was too much trouble for them. I would re-visit in a heartbeat. We all remarked on the quality of the meal and service and how unfair it was that we were the only 4 people in the restaurant on a Sunday lunchtime when they 're doing such a good job of it. I understand that they are right next to the Lakeside Restaurant which does boast great views of the golf course but in my opinion, the food and service here is far superior. Coincidentally later on that day when speaking with a friend, he mentioned that he was actually at the Lakeside that lunchtime and found the food underwhelming but the place was packed! I 'd encourage people to add 350 meters on to their journey and give this hidden gem a try :
We visited with children and although there wasn't a specific menu for them we were able to adapt the meals available and it was no trouble. Interesting décor. Lovely old section pre meal area. Pleasant staff who were attentive and nice touches.
Went for Sunday lunch 14 April 19 after reading reviews with my elderly Father. Exceptionally good food and value for money and reviews are correct. We will be back. Please note photo of Turkey dinner does not have all the Veg served yet.
