The location is very good as well. It is right next to the beach, with lots of restaurants and bars at walking distance. I would totally recommend Thaimex for a short trip to the area. (Random tip for Thailand: BRING A LITRE OF MOSQUITO REPELLENT! I have been back for a month, and the scars won't fade
We came for breakfast twice! Ying speaks incredible english and cooked for all my dietary needs. it was healthy tasty meal in a relaxing atmosphere! definitely will come every time. come if you want to relax and have good conversation and fresh yummy food! smoothie bowl, dairy free/gluten free, pancakes, bacon, fresh fruit!
Great service, great homestay. It really did feel cozy and comfortable like we were in someones home. The hosts are so kind and helpful and have everything you need right there. There are only fans but at least in the cool season you don’t need even that. Amazing amazing stay. I wish i was here longer.
I don 't always review places we stay unless there is something of interest to add. ThaiMex has more positives than negatives, including a very helpful and friendly hostess. For me the main issue is value for money and that depends on the individual. If you have been in Thailand for a while (not the islands), then you know what ฿590 gets. Our room was three single beds, two pushed together (with a gap) with comfortable mattress/sheets but one queen sized bed would generally be preferred by most couples. The house is wooden and so all noise travels especially when one room is occupied by three Thai female high school students who live on TikTok and YouTube. There are two showers but only one can be used at a time because of water pressure. This would be an issue if the guesthouse was full. The 2nd floor balcony was perfect for chilling. We were lucky that the other room wasn 't occupied and so we had our own 'private ' balcony with two chairs. If you are going to stay, a good suggestion is to ask for a standing fan. This helps the aircon in the room and makes the balcony useable when it 's hot or when the mossies arrive. We had a motorbike so location wasn 't an issue. If you are going to stay a few days you would need at least a bicycle to get into and out of town, night markets etc... In the end I gave 3/5 purely based on value for money and knowing that we were lucky to have the shared balcony to ourselves because tousism is low at the moment.
This place is so beautiful with the perfect hosts and location. I stayed in June and it was such a fool as we just got out of the lockdown in Bangkok. Make sure to rent the bikes to get the community (but don't make the mistake to park the bike through any Macaques as they chew on the squares! . There is a great massage right at the corner and many foods and drinks options all within 10 minutes walk or bike tour. The weekend markets are beautiful and you can hit the coastal promenade where I yoga in the early morning. You need to rent a kayak or SUP board to visit the caves and nearby islands for a completely different view. Hiking to the view is also a must. Your hosts are a young Thai and Mexican-American couple who is very well informed about the community and what they do not know they are happy to ask and find what you need. Your cats are also welcome companions while you relax in the general lobby. Undoubtedly, you will meet new friends as I did, as there are only three rooms and a common room and two showers. The hosts will cook for you and even welcome the teaching or learning of new cooking styles from you.
