Story - Prairie Village

Nice restaurant and good food. But weird experience with the wine. They said they couldn't get our bottle because it was somewhere within the women's restroom and they couldn't get in?? Very strange. It came late well after the meal. No discount was offered......even more weird. Maybe they need to find a different storage area? Just a thought. May try it again someday but plenty of other places where wine is actually NOT located in a bathroom. Kind of gross anyway.

I had high hopes for Story, and while I wasn't exactly disappointed, I really wasn't charmed by my experience. To start, the vibe of the place is a bit stuffy and the decor is rather stark and boring. Excellent service, nice patio for outdoor dining. Limited but superb wine list. Seasonal menu influenced by fresh locally-sourced product. Chef definitely cooks with love, you see it in the presentation and taste it throughout the meal. Dessert was over the top; I recommend splitting the decadent chocolate dessert, completely incapacitated me. In a good way. Will go back again.

The food was good. It was actually really good. However the service is why we give three stars. Felt like we were an inconvenience. Very unfriendly. Would have loved to have more drinks but did not see anyone until we passed the point of wanting more. Disappointed we chose a Classist establishment. The table next to us was seated AFTER us, served before us and left before us. We were dressed casual but observed that those with dresses and button downs get the attention. We waited 1.5 hours with no communication from our waiter who clearly had time to serve wine and offer dessert to the other table.
