We showed up at 8:20am, had our order in for TAKE OUT by 8:26am. I waited inside, and my girlfriend waited out in the car in their lot with our dogs. After about 50 minutes, I had still not received our food. By this time the dogs needed to get out and stretch a little, so my girlfriend leashed them up and took them near the lake view. A lady, I believe she 's the owner, proceeded to yell at my girlfriend in front of the full audience that was eating outside. She demanded that we move our vehicle and go somewhere to pay for parking, we can 't hang out here all day . My girlfriend explained that we had already paid for our TAKE OUT meal and were simply waiting for the food. The owner doubled down and reiterated that we needed to move our car and that she would make sure that I would know. She very rudely approached me in the restaraunt and told me that my girlfriend couldn 't hang out at the lake all day and that we needed to move our car. We never planned to stay there, we were staying down the road and wanted to bring the food back, hence the TAKE OUT order. Got our food finally, the food was absolutely trash. Sandwich was soggy and nasty, my steak was hardly cooked. From reading other reviews it seems like this place has had a change of ownership. The new owners have no idea how to treat anyone with kindness. Don 't give these people your business.
My husband and I are spending the month of July in Prescott and are trying out several restaurants during our stay. We were recommended Links Lake Café by friends who praised its delicious food and stunning views. They were absolutely right—the view is spectacular, with a beautiful lake setting. However, be prepared for a bit of luck if you want a window seat, as there are only a few available. No need to worry, though; you can still enjoy the scenery from the outdoor seating or other tables. We decided to visit for breakfast. My husband ordered a standard combo breakfast, while I opted for the Brekki bowl. Both dishes were enjoyable! The only disappointment was that we expected to see some tasty fried potatoes, but what we received were tater tots—definitely not what we hoped for. They made my bowl a bit soggy, and my husband didn't touch his at all. (It’s not a dealbreaker, but I'll definitely choose something else next time now that we know.) Additionally, the menu appeared to be quite limited compared to what was previously posted online on Yelp. Now, on to our server—he was notably uninterested in being friendly or engaging in conversation. He didn’t bother to check in on us during our meal and only approached when it was clear we had finished eating, just to ask if we needed anything else. At that point, we replied no—not that we needed anything now, since we were done! I would have loved to order a second mimosa! He then placed our bill on the table and walked away without even a thank you or goodbye. I tried to be polite by thanking him when he seated us, when he took our order, and when he delivered our food, but my husband advised me to stop given the lack of courtesy from him. Everyone has off days, but this felt excessive. Interestingly, we noticed that the two female servers were happily chatting and laughing with their customers, making us feel a bit envious that we weren’t being served by them! Despite the poor service, we plan to return in the next few weeks. I’ll just make sure we have a different server this time. If it weren’t for the unsatisfactory service, we would have rated this place five stars, even though we weren’t fans of the tater tots.
I absolutely adore this restaurant. The setting is beautiful, quite unlike the rest of Prescott, with its stunning Ponderosa trees. And the hummingbirds! Watching them is such an entertaining treat. The schnitzel is outstanding; I particularly enjoy the Australian version with avocado—I seriously dream about it! Their Spätzle is also fantastic, and the brats are delicious. You really can't leave without trying their homemade strudel, fresh out of the oven. I have to confess, I often feel too full to enjoy it there, but I always take two slices home—not just for me, but for my husband and me to share! By the way, Christie is amazing!
The price of $6.00 was for those who chose not to eat. We were informed that this was a shared plate fee. It was disappointing to learn it would be $6 for the shared plate. They also have a policy against outside water since they suspect some may add vodka to it. Since three people in our group decided not to eat for different reasons, we ended up leaving. Just a heads up: after that, we went to Costco and got a Polish dog with sauerkraut, which they called German.
