Read the menu carefully as only some dishes come with vegetable others you have to add them on. The quality of the foom is very good but the portion sizes are a little on the small size.
Apparently they were too busy to serve a single hotel guest, and I was sent to the bar... Tough to justify considering that the place has been empty for the post couple of hours.
During my stay at the hotel, I decided to dine at their signature restaurant. As a fan of BBQ and meat, the menu was quite appealing to me. After much deliberation, I chose the rack of pork over the rump steak. The dish took quite some time to arrive (around 30 minutes), and when it did, I realized why. It seemed like the two loin chops had been on the grill for too long, resulting in them being dry and tough like shoe leather. The pork was nearly inedible due to its overcooking. However, the staff were kind enough to remove the meal from my bill and only charge me for the side salad. Despite this, the fact that the hotel is located in an area without many other dining options makes it crucial for their food to be of good quality. Unfortunately, my experience at the restaurant did not meet my expectations, and it seems like their chefs may need to revisit the Cast Iron Grill Chef school.
What a perfect night! Amazing atmosphere, friendly staff!! For starters we shared the chicken liver parfait, I totally forgot about taking a picture because it looked so delicious we tucked straight in and it was delicious!! Mains my husband had the burger which was fantastic, I ordered the steak with sweet potatoes fries and I asked if they could do a cream sauce instead of the peppercorn one which wasn’t a problem! The steak was perfectly cooked and was to die for, melted in the mouth perfection!! For dessert my husband had cheesecake which was lovely and I had the chocolate tart with ended the night perfectly for me!! We would 100% recommend going and sampling their delicious food!! Honestly everything was perfect and nothing was too much trouble!! A recommendation from The Abbott’s
Really pleased the Cast Iron Grill is open again to the public. We visited the restaurant on two nights. The first night the Friday we ordered the Aberdeen black Angus fillet. It is the fillet steak we have had in awhile. Cooked to perfection, medium rare it was not only delicious it was seared and seasoned to give it maximum flavour. It is definitely worth a visit if like us really enjoy quality and flavour in your beef fillet. The second night we had the pan fried chicken with truffle mashed potatoes. Another faultless and tasty dish. To finish we shared the frangipan pie. The shortcuts pastry was fabulous. Thank you to Chef Graham who's cooking was amazing. We will return very soon.
