The staff claimed they couldn't serve us for well over an hour despite a number of empty tables. When I checked the website they could easily accommodate us within a few minutes.
Service with a smile . We called in for a late lunch on the afternoon while passing through . Even though the place looked busy we was greeted by a girl called Meg on arrival who showed us to a table and advised us on ordering . The bar was quick service and food came out within cooking time . Meg came over during our meal and asked how things was and even tried to tempt us to some puddings Well done Meg
We booked a table for food. Nice to see the pub busy but there was only one girl holding the fort, running the bar, taking out meals, collecting plates etc. This meant the service was extremely slow and certainly wasn’t with a smile. The food arrived after 40 mins or so and it was mediocre pub grub. The fish was over cooked and the gammon was wet (needed to be rested) which meant the whole plate was swimming! Think they need to employ more staff front of house and someone with more cookery skills in the kitchen. Better off at the Stags.
Enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch here, seated straight away, really friendly staff looking forward to visiting again soon.
