The decor is not everything to write home, but the food was fabulous! Service was friendly and fast. There is a great view of the sea on the bar side. Parking is not great as there is street parking, but there is enough space to keep completely free vehicles.
I went to the Oceanview Hotel on Saturday night. We had to wait about twenty minutes because it was pretty busy. It's okay we never hurry. The food was excellent, the service was great, We liked it so much we went back to lunch the next day.
I travel throughout BC a lot and I'm happy to have found this place. I love finding a place in a small town that is NOT a franchise providing great food and service. This is one of those places. The waitress was pouring a beer as I walked by the bar, she was sure to make eye contact with me and say hello (knowing I probably wasn't a local). I made my way to the back and was happy to see a wicked view and 2 open tables right at the windows. I grabbed the far sw seat in the place and was immediately greeted by the waitress again with a smile. She took my drink order... bla bla bla... This place isn't about curb appeal. It's about the food, service and experience. Do yourself a favour and try it out. If you're down to earth, are thirsty and or hungry you'll be happy you did.
So, I've found the best burger in the city. If you want an awesome burger, quality ingredients, and well prepared, absolutely go here. I am definitely going to go again. But there are downsides. The place is a little hard to find; head down the left side of the building, pass the menu, to the Dutch door here and ring the bell. You'll be waiting outside if you don't phone ahead or get delivery (they are on Spyce). There is a bit of cover from rain, but not cold, and not a ton of places to sit and wait. Prices are fairly high. You want quality? You're going to have to pay for it. Bacon family burger (with lettuce, cheese, onions and sauce), fries and no drink cost me $25 with tip. Tomato is a $2 addition, it should be noted. The bacon slices I got were thick cut and good coverage, though. Everything was well put together, and tasted awesome. I ate in on a little table right there, and that is one thing that's needed, and will probably be there come summer: a patio. Like most good burgers and fries, they're better hotter. Either run it to your car, or have a way to keep it warm if you can. Still, like I said, I'm absolutely going back. Simply awesome.
