Since moving from the USA, dining here reminds us of home. The food can be pricey, but with their loyalty card and special offers, it becomes more affordable. The meatball spaghetti is a must-try, as the meatballs are huge and perfect for sharing. When we brought our visiting grandchildren, one of them always enjoyed the calamari. We also recommend trying the Captain's Choice for a variety of flavors. The chicken and mojos are decent, and the service is average. The bill can take some time, but parking is excellent with more spots available in the back. Just avoid peak traffic hours in Halang. Give this place a try!
We have been to many Shakey’s locations, but I have to say this is the worst one we have visited. We had eaten here two years ago and decided to give it another try. We ordered two lunch specials. The soup was very flavorful, but it seemed to have too much MSG in it. The salad was decent, but the garlic bread was burnt. The spaghetti tasted different from what we are used to at Shakey’s Paseo de Sta. Rosa. The only redeeming quality was the friendly crew, who were attentive and helpful. It seems like they are trying to improve, as the restaurant looks new.
We have visited Shakey's in Calamba several times as it is the only one in the area. Our go-to orders are typically soup and pasta. I usually opt for the lasagna, while my wife enjoys the sausage penne pasta. Coming from the US, we find the food here to be quite similar to what we are used to. While prices may be a bit high, having a Shakey's card and senior card makes it more affordable. The meatball spaghetti is a standout dish, with a massive meatball that can easily feed two people. When we bring our visiting grandchildren, one of them always requests the calamari. We also enjoy the Captain's Choice appetizers, and find the chicken and mojos to be satisfactory. The service is average, and billing can be a bit slow. However, parking is plentiful, especially in the back of the restaurant. It's best to visit during non-peak hours to avoid the heavy traffic on Halang Road.
We had dine in many branches of Shakey's and I'd say that this one is the worst. We had dine here before, sometime two years ago. We had ordered two ultimate bunch of lunch. Of course, starting with the soup, which I think is very tasty with MSG to the point that it is not cream but its as if I'm putting heaps of it in my mouth. The salad was ok. The garlic bread is burnt. What more is the spaghetti taste different from the one we ate at Shakey's Paseo in Sta. Rosa. The only sacing grace they have is the crew. They place is already given because the establishment is new.
