The history of the building is also very interesting. The Inn keepers were available, living on property. We had two breakfasts, which were hearty and tasty. Loved the entire experience.
The hosts were fantastic! 4 waterfalls within minutes of the hotel were an unexpected pleasure. The food is terrific. Historic hotel from 1980. Convenience store and gas in town. 40 minutes from Crater Lake NP.
My family of three, myself, a 16 year old and spouse are wondering through Oregon for a week and wanted to visit Crater Lake. The Prospect Hotel was a perfect get away. Everything slows down. Lovely porch, waterfalls within easy walking distance, great breakfast, and delightful, friendly hosts. Highly recommend.
I'm going to start this review with the food the Prospect makes dining a wonderful and delicious experience. If you book dinner, don't miss the Prime Rib and the house salad delightful, especially paired with a local wine. The breakfasts are HUGE! There's something for everyone, BUT, be warned that, although there's fruit, an egg, meat and another entree, plus juice, they do NOT do custom orders. In our case, it didn't matter at all! All the staff from Dede at the front desk, to our servers at dinner and breakfast were friendly and terrific. Even the host/owner was lovely. The not so great we had to lug 2 large suitcases up 2 flights of stairs to get to our room the Record Suite. Yes, I know it's an historic hotel, so it's no wonder there's no elevator. The plumbing in the suite needs some SEVERE work. It took forever for the toilet to fill, and that really became annoying. Unfortunately, the Prospect area was in the midst of a heat wave, so the a/c unit in our was insufficient for our needs. We had an uncomfortable night. I hate to leave this review as the folks are so very kind, but, if I had read a review like this, I would probably have chosen to push onto Medford or somewhere else to the south after visiting Crater Lake.
This historic place has it all! History, outdoor space, great dining, and great staff. You don't want to miss the great experience of staying here and enjoying the full experience of their great hospitality.
