A great stop for lunch or for a break while traveling. Great wine to taste and buy.
Great wines, some of the best you can find anywhere in my opinion. Food/Chef/Preparation was outstanding, don 't know where they found you but really good quality. The ding is for the service side. Nice people, all of them, but completely untrained and unsure of what to do with a customer. I fear for them if they get busy. Hopefully this will change, my advice is to not get upset, enjoy the wine and simply explain that you need silverware when your food comes (if not before), there is a little fork that goes with the oysters, look at the menus before handing them out (one said lunch the other small bites , we were there for dinner). That sort of thing. They can do better and I know they will. I hope to go back and stay at the inn and will try again, usually I don 't give a second chance on service, but in this case it will be worth it because everything else was absolutely great and even on service, we got there eventually with some little helpful suggestions and teamwork.
Very pleasant experience at Desert Wind from moment we walked thru the doors, greeted promptly and sat in a pretty expansive outdoor setting, very southwest type atmosphere. Had Cod crustinis and wedge salads, both were delicious. Petit Verdot was pretty good as well. Our server was very nice gentleman who took good care of us. They were out of one dish that my husband wanted to try but we so enjoyed our time there that we will be going back soon.
Overall experience was outstanding. It was out first time eating there. Food and wine was stellar.
