Hubby and I visited on a Saturday. We saw positive Yelp reviews and were excited to try this place. Weren’t sure if we had the right spot at first, because it looks like a house, but posters confirmed the location. Note: Google Maps points you to the opposite side of the street. We were the first guests of the day and we had a FANTASTIC meal of tacos—a tremendous and beautifully presented platter of steak, garlic fish, and coconut breaded shrimp. Sides included cilantro sauce-covered macaroni and white rice, grilled asparagus, zucchini, and jalapeño pepper, cucumber, radish, pico, lime wedges, grilled onion, tajin-sprinkled orange slices, a dark red spicy salsa, and a green milder salsa. Both flour and corn tortillas were hot and fresh. I was literally overwhelmed with the presentation. I didn’t know where to start eating! Coconut shrimp was perfectly fried (crunchy coconut breading, but shrimp were still soft) and served with a sweet sauce that complimented beautifully. Fish was flounder, fresh, tender and flaky, without the garlic overwhelming the flavor of the fish. Skirt steak was well-grilled, drizzled with a green cilantro sauce, in perfect bite sized pieces for tacos. Everything was well seasoned and flavors layered to perfection. Alas, we had to stop eating at some point! We barely finished all that food. Service was by Dulce, very friendly and accommodating for us non-Spanish speakers. Thank you, El Mesón, for the best meal we have had for this visit to Puerto Peñasco. We can’t wait to return with our family!
