Piergiorgio Palace - Puerto Plata

I had a great stay this past weekend with family. I have been here numerous times in the past 20 years. Yes the place needs some TLC . Hotel staff service was excellent!! Thanks to the owner and staff for really helping us out with a family member emergency. Food was good too.

Absolutely beautiful dining experience with the views and the location. However, the hotel needs lots of renovations and the restaurant staff was the laziest and uneducated in making drinks that I have seen at any restaurant or bar in that area. There were seven of us. We did order specialty drinks such as Mojitos and Manhattans and stuff like that. However, alcohol and the drinks were made incorrectly, had no flavor in the alcohol was barely noticeable. I would go there every day for cocktails just because of The view. However, until they get that bar staff figured out and get someone out there that knows how to make good cocktails they will continue to have no one in the bar. We were the only people there and I can understand why if the drinks are not good. Such a shame, because it's such a beautiful place to sit and have cocktails, enjoy your friends and watch the sunset.

Don’t let the pictures full you the hotel isn’t as nice as it looks. However the staff are awesome, they are very friendly and helpful. I don’t really speak Spanish and they was so helpful. The bed was so hard you can bounce a quarter off of. The shower needed to be worked on and the TV had to be fixed too. Don’t depend on the internet there either. The breakfast was good (I just ate the fruit) I tried eating some of the other stuff. Coffee drinkers be ready to grow hair on your chest it’s very strong. But all in all I would recommend this place for a short term like a few nights or less. The reason I say that is if you want to sleep your not getting a good one due to the bed. Oh yeah, the one bed had dirty sheets on it so we slept in the bed with clean sheets.

The location and view are outstanding, the restaurant food was surprisingly good, the hotel itself is mismanaged and shoddy, rooms are basic, ok, the views oceanside are breathtaking but the balconies are so small and stacked closely side by side, 0 privacy and the most disappointing thing was no wifi or internet because of some issue, somewhat vague, 0 solutions or options. In today's world that's unacceptable. No phones in room, reception never answers even if you call from your cell, no glasses in the rooms, no towels for the pool and only two small towels in room, no bottle opener, very limited and cheap with amenities. Too bad, the location is spectacular and the restaurant is nice but everything else leaves much to be desired. Terrible mismanagement....

Ok , I will like to be clear why this place is a 3 star rather then a 5 keep in mind the 3 stars applies to appearance not service or food . This charming hotel has all the potential of being a 5 star with the best view in all of town. SADLY it's obvious that over the years the hotel has fallen into bad management and now The overall hotel needs a complete renovation and a makeover. The good thing is that I see signs of some construction and repairs so this is hopeful. Now as far as the service from the staff it is 5 STAR and the food quality is also great . In all fairness Please note I will return by myself very soon and enjoy this great property and it's wonderful view and service but as to return with my family I will wait till someone rescues this amazing property.
