I love Ernesto’s! You can find more elegant spots, better views, etc. What you won’t find is better food, lovingly prepared by the owner. To quote my aunt, “you could eat their Carne Asada with your teeth out”
Went here on a recommendation and was not disappointed, Two of us had the combo (tortilla soup and half a rack of ribs) one had the coconut shrimp and one had the all you can eat ribs, all cam with fries, everything was awesome, The soup and ribs were really good, the shrimp were large (8 of them) and my wife could not eat all of them (so I had to help her with that) The all you can eat ribs were very good, but could only eat 1 1/2 racks (first served 1 whole rack), too stuffed after that, Service was very good, the atmosphere is great (even had live music) They combo was about $250, The shrimp about $250 and the all you can eat was about $310 (all pesos)
Hard to find but worth it. The server brought out chips and salsa but when I told him I ca not eat spicy, he brought a salsa that was non spicy but so tasty! It was recommended that we have the tortilla soup. We ordered the small one and shared it. Most delicious tortilla soup i have ever had! I had grilled fish tacos and Jim had the grilled shrimp tacos. It was also recommended that we have their ribs but that was not on the menu last nite. When the server couldn't understand English, he brought someone over who could answer our questions. We will definitely go back there again.
I have been in Mexico for a week and was not impressed with the food thus far mainly because I stuck to one resort. However this place charmed me. The owner was laid back and honest and did not desperately try to up-sale us through aggression or obsequiousness. Portion sizes are large and food quality is good. Funny story: My wife and I did not bring enough pesos for our bill at the end of the night and I had to go look for an ATM. It took a while since there was only one bank that would accept my card. Anyway by the time I got back my wife was near freaking out that I was lost, however, if not for the restaurant owner taking care of her I am sure she would have truly had a breakdown. They took her in with open arms and gave her a free glass of wine. Definitely a great family that runs this place.
