I don't mean that I like to have a cup of green tea from SB, I mean that I like to learn about the different varieties, smell them and learn history and cultural tidbits. Even if you are in the category of former, not, this place is still for you. From the moment I went, I was greeted by a wide selection of tea, and by a woman who was extremely well known about tea selection. She could even describe the working conditions of the people who took the tea leaves and told me about their salary. The teas are available in flights, so you don't just have to choose one, and you get great help to get the most out of the experience. I highly recommend this place.
Order the Jasmine, Gunpowder and Jasmine Dragon tears on a Sunday, they appeared on Tuesday. WOW this is good tea, the best green teas I had. The Jasmine Dragon tears are particularly wonderful.
I stopped a weekend with my girlfriend to check it out. Huge selection of loose leaf tea, they are quite expensive, but I think this is standard for this type of tea (you not only buy pockets of lipton or something. The funst part was to get a flight and learn the different styles. Michael was amazingly knowledgeable and friendly, we have learned a lot and enjoyed our time there (and then bought some!).
I just spent a delightful morning here. I needed a quiet place to read/study, and I'm glad I tried it. The tea was excellent, and the staff was exceptionally knowledgeable not only about the varieties of tea and the proper way to prepare it, but also the science behind how it brews. If you need some caffeine to pound for your commute you can go anywhere, but if you want an exquisite cup of tea and a peaceful environment in which to enjoy it, this is your place.
I had never been to a tea tasting party when a friend invited me to join her family at Dominion Tea. What an amazing and fun experience it was too! Owners Hillary and David have managed to assemble a business that informs and educates as well as charms. Their shop provides literally hundreds of offerings to sample, plus to buy and take home, along with accessories for brewing your own wonderful teas. As a bonus, their website offers insights from their wealth of experiences in traveling and tasting around the globe of tea-dom. All in a charming little Purcellville storefront. Go visit, and be prepared to be delighted!
