The Danish Place at Sunset Villa

I had a fantastic time at this restaurant. The food was exceptional and the waitress was friendly and helpful. The ambiance, especially in the library where we were seated, was very enjoyable. I ordered the Pork schnitzel, my husband had the salmon, and our friends had the pork tenderloin and duck. The red cabbage and veggies were delicious, and the wine, beer, and dessert were all great as well. We will definitely be returning in the future.

I used to see excellent reviews for The Danish Place before 2021, it was a great place to eat under the previous owners. I have been dining at this restaurant for 34 years and the food, service, and atmosphere have always been excellent. Unfortunately, since July 2021 under the new owners, I can no longer recommend this place. Covid cannot be used as an excuse for any reason. As a member of Sunsetvilla, it is truly disappointing to see how bad the restaurant has become. I went for lunch today and the fish was obviously reheated, the tartar sauce had separated and the Frikadellar was tasteless. The service was subpar. I will not be returning and would give it a negative star rating if possible.

Today, we visited this restaurant for lunch and ordered the fish and chips as well as the frikadellar sliders. Unfortunately, the fish seemed to have been reheated as the batter was white and the fish itself was tough. The tartar sauce appeared to have been previously frozen and separated. The service was average at best. In my 34 years of dining at Sunset Villa under various owners, this was the worst food I have ever encountered. I would give it a negative rating if possible. I suggest saving your money and opting for fish at a fish and chip stand instead. The owner should take responsibility and make necessary changes to attract back regular customers.

We tried the Friday fish and chips and although Cod I was expecting a great meal. The cod was ok and the batter was nothing like expected. Good fries though. I did have the smorrebrod and that was ok.

We have gone there twice since this restaurant re-opened. Both time the service was so slow. Over 2 hours for Lunch and over 3 hours for dinner. Both times we had to clear our own dishes by putting them on a nearby tables. During dinner no one came to see if our drinks needed replenishing even if they had only 2 tables in the whole place. Had to go to the server and ask for drinks. Food was just ok after waiting for over 1 hour. Nothing special. Steak was very fatty. Won’t be back sadly. Too bad. This place used to be amazing.
