When traveling you cannot miss with this restaurant. Waitresses are pleasant and food is homemade type. Not rushed when eating. When you leave there you are full. Lots of these restaurants in Quebec. The restaurant we were at was 986 Bouvier in Quebec. Not the one above.Beers and wines reasonable.
I like to eat at Normandin restaurants when traveling to the Quebec City area and usually stop at the one at St-Jean-Port-Joli. I am able to enjoy a good meal and be on my way in less than an hour. I have had consistent quality service and food at the half dozen or so establishments I have visited. The sugar pie is great and I will normally buy a couple whole pies to take home. Many tour groups stop a Normandin because of their ability to serve big crowds in less time than many other similar establishments. I just wish they would have a restaurant closer than the present two hours from my house.
This restaurant was very busy on Saturday night, with a queue. The hot chicken sandwich was decent, while the grilled salmon was delicious. The lasagna was the standout dish, with a tasty sauce and plenty of cheese. The portion size was generous, especially with the Caesar salad that accompanied it. The sugar pie was average, slightly too sweet. Overall, it's great value for a quick meal.
The food at this restaurant was typical of a diner - nothing extraordinary. The establishment was clean and well-maintained, although I would have appreciated it if the waitress had a better grasp of English.
