Yardies Jerk - Queens

This restaurant is hit or miss. I posted a photo of my soup in the trash because it tasted terrible. The soup had only 3 dumplings in a large bowl, the chicken was bland, and the soup itself was sour. The jerk chicken is not spicy at all, just seasoned chicken. The BBQ sauce is inconsistent. The oxtail options are better, but everything else is bad. The staff is friendly, but the quality has been poor lately.

The Oxtail with Mac and Cheese at this restaurant is delicious, but I recommend getting the small size rather than the large. The pickup section is located to the left. It may be slow, but the wait is worth it. Make sure to have your order information ready in addition to your name. The soup is also excellent, but it is not always available. The Jerk chicken is not spicy, so I typically avoid it.

Customer service is excellent at this location, we’ll order takeout from here like once a month and enjoy it but on 6/2/23 Friday, my husband and I ordered directly in the restaurant, jerk pork and festival, we both got a nasty stomach virus which includes diarrhea and vomiting in the worst way for two days, I think the pork was not stored or prepared properly. That’s the only reason why we will not be eating at that restaurant anymore.

I have been a loyal customer at Yardies for over 7 years. Today, on Feb 18, 2023, I visited the restaurant for the second time in about 10 days and I was amazed by the service. The staff was professional, courteous, friendly, and incredibly fast, which was a pleasant change from my experiences in the past 5+ years. I noticed that the staff was all male during these recent visits. The man who took my order was attentive, energetic, articulate, interactive, and helpful. He even made suggestions on my order and the team worked efficiently to prepare it. I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent service. When I mentioned my observation to two customers who were leaving, they agreed that today's service was the best they had experienced. We all agreed that most of the previous unpleasant experiences were with the female staff. Women must improve their attitudes when providing services, especially to people of the same race and gender. Kudos to the male staff at Yardies for delivering excellent service.

I recently called this restaurant with a simple question and was pleasantly surprised by the responsive and welcoming attitude of the man who answered the phone. This level of customer service is rare for Jamaican restaurants, and I am pleased to see them setting themselves apart from the usual standard.
