What can I say? This place has an incredible ambiance, friendly staff, and exceptional food. I highly recommend it for those who enjoy fine dining. The use of local produce is impressive!
This is a hard to find place that is hidden away. Quiet and understated, the dining room is small and intimate. The food shows off the best of local produce and the wines are great.
Upon entering The Bunker on a chilly winter evening, the ambiance was warm and welcoming. The maître d' greeted us promptly and took our coats with efficiency. Once we settled into the cozy dining area, we chose two main courses: the snapper with ravioli and the beef prepared in two styles, accompanied by mustard greens and potatoes. We were informed that they had introduced a new menu, encouraging us to ask any questions we might have. Paired with wine and beer, our meal was enjoyable, though it didn't quite reach extraordinary levels. The snapper dish, priced at $40, felt a bit lacking in portion size, as it contained only two ravioli instead of the expected three. The beef short rib was a tad dry, but the fillet was cooked to perfection.
I had dined here many years ago and had a meal that was truly exceptional, earning a 5.0 in my book. This time, due to the size of our group, we had to choose from the banquet menu, which slightly limited our options. Overall, the food was outstanding—the venison entrée was amazing, followed by a lamb main course that was a bit lacking in flavor, and a rich and delicious chocolate cake for dessert (I heard the crème brûlée was also wonderful). However, the service was a letdown. While it was adequate for the setting, it left a sour impression. The sole waitress served bottled water at $10 a bottle, and when we requested tap water instead, she became snappy and rude for the rest of the evening. We understood it was an expensive dinner, but we didn't expect or want to pay for water.
