Our server wrote our order on a crumpled paper filled with scribbles, which made us question how she would remember it correctly. Unfortunately, our concerns were warranted. The server chatted to no one in particular, mistakenly took my tea to the wrong table, and left it there despite the patron saying he hadn’t ordered it. I eventually got my tea after asking a second time. When our food arrived, it was completely wrong—my eggs were scrambled instead of sunny side up. When I pointed out the mistake, she insisted that they were indeed scrambled, showing us her notes as if we were at fault. After we proved her wrong, she blamed the kitchen for misreading her order. The lovely K’s pancakes were forgotten and promised to arrive in two minutes, but she received them only after I had finished my entire meal—except for the barely warm potatoes, some of which had black spots that made them inedible. The toast was cold enough that the butter wouldn’t melt, making it so dry that we had to slather jam on each piece just to swallow it. When the bill arrived, the server again presented paperwork blaming the kitchen for the issues we had experienced, which was far from the truth. At least my tea was taken off the bill for our troubles. I understand that everyone can have an off day from time to time, but the stark contrast between the excellent pizza from the night before and the breakfast fiasco was hard to ignore. We had never encountered a server so adamant about her excellent service, insisting that we or the kitchen were responsible for her mistakes. We will certainly stay at the hotel again, but we won’t put ourselves through that breakfast experience again—it was among the worst we’ve had on our travels.
Ordered the dill spaghetti. Was fresh and tasty. After a long day travel on the Rocky Mountaineer, you should definitely give this place a shot.
Rolled into town on a Friday evening. Not many places were still open but Begbie's was. Outdoor seating and friendly server. Pizza was freshly made, crust was clearly handmade. Also had nachos (loaded with fresh bell peppers and tomatoes) and Caesar salad. All in all a satisfying meal and friendly service.
In my opinion the best place to eat in Quesnel. Always good food and friendly staff.
Stopping here for a night on route to Prince George with my daughter. I ordered the Canadian burger which was a good basic burger, she ordered the chicken teriyaki with rice. It had too much sauce, was more like a soup, had some of the chicken and veggies, she left hungry. Don't order the iced tea. Service was very good. Older dated restaurant, clean.
