El Monte Carlo - Questa

The food at this restaurant was tasty, but many items listed on the menu were unavailable during our visit. Prices ranged from $10 to $20 per person. The food and service both received a rating of 5, while the atmosphere was a 3. We recommend trying the Hamburger with Cheese, Bacon, and Green Chile.

Good food at great prices. It is a wonderful place to eat, drink, and have fun. The only issue is that I wish they would get new pool cues.

I discovered this restaurant while looking for The Cuesta Cafe, which is no longer in business. A friend had suggested The Cuesta Cafe to me because of its delicious food and because of an article in the New York Times that mentioned a community in the area that still speaks a nearly extinct dialect of Spanish. El Monte is a unique little cafe that also operates as a liquor store. It has a jukebox, bandstand, and dance floor in the back where I believe the locals gather. I ordered the classic breakfast, which was delicious and well-priced.
