This morning, on our way to Bharuch, we planned to have breakfast in Rajpipla. We stopped our taxi after passing Shreeji Nashta House. Shreeji had a lot of customers sitting at their outdoor tables, while their neighboring stores with a similar menu had no diners. Shreeji had a display of their offerings and a person was busy frying fresh snacks by the counter. The store owner was busy packing orders and collecting cash from walk-in and dine-in customers. Shreeji offered Fafda, fried gram flour ribbons, nylon yellow dhokla made from besan, white dhokla made from rice and masala patra. They also had flat samosas with potato filling, moong dal vadas, chilly bajji, and thin slice potato bajjis. We ordered white and yellow dhokla, assorted bajjis, and patra. Like in Gujarat, Shreeji sold food by weight and served it on a newspaper with a thin paper film underneath. There were no plates or spoons, and customers ate the food directly. We used a sweet yellow chutney made from unripe papaya and fried green chili for flavor. After breakfast, we ordered Amul masti and Jeera Soda. Our breakfast at Shreeji was light, tasty, and cost us only one hundred and fifty rupees. The best breakfast in Gujarat is the local one, especially at small restaurants like Shreeji. While they also served the popular Fafda-Jalebi combination, we decided not to order the sweet part today.
I tried the dhokla at this restaurant and it was simply amazing.
