Our experience started with a very rude hostess that seemed troubled when asked if we could dine at their restaurant. Granted we did not have a reservation, but given the number of open table available on the inside of the restaurant as well as the number of open on the front patio it was a little surprising. I can fully understand the desire to present an upscale atmosphere; however, you must be able to back it up with good service and great food. In both areas’ La Volta falls short. After being seated the service not only did not get any better but was probably the worst service my wife and I have ever experienced at a restaurant….any restaurant. After receiving our appetizer (never received silverware despite requesting multiple times) we waited for 20+ minutes for the waiter to return to our table to take our entrée order. Given the attitude from the hostess and the service from the waiter we decided to request our check for the appetizer and drinks and go elsewhere for dinner. I cannot speak to the quality of the food since all we were not willing to ruin the whole night with poor service. We only had Bruschetta (which was OK….not great) before deciding to leave. Luckily we found that not all of the downtown restaurants are as bad as La Volta. After a short stroll we found several options and finally settled in for what is expected at a restaurant….good service and food.
Super yummy Indian food!! One of my favorite spots for it in downtown Raleigh. Quick and easy to order takeout or have a casual dine in. Everything is hot and fresh, Naan is made to order. 10/10
My husband and I stopped in for a quick bit and the smell of the food made me super hungry. I ordered the club sandwich which came on a pita! Loved loved loved!!! My husband had the butter chicken which was so flavorful!
This is a wonderful hidden gem, can’t believe we didn’t know of this wonderful family owned restaurant in downtown. We were going to all the overpriced and lack of good service and poor attitude places in downtown and what a treat it was to find this spot. Great food, great service with a smile on top A must try.
Super friendly staff and a GREAT alternative to expensive hotel breakfast. I am honestly not sure why this place wasn’t packed it was 1/2 the price of almost any option at the hotel and the quality was spot on for a little cafe.
