Interesting meal. Wagyu beef cooked by yourself in hot water. This was pretty weird for a guy from Ohio. The sake was absolutely amazing.
This was delicious. Nice ambience, well lit and modern. You cook at the table. We selected sukiyaki savory broth and a beef and a tofu platter to immerse. Don't miss the raw egg to dip as you eat the piping hot items. And then slurp the broth at the end. Just like mom used to make. This place is the total package. Nice attentive service with attention to detail.
The food here is AMAZING! I don’t typically eat much, but every time we visit, I find myself finishing everything! From the flavorful broth to the delicious dipping sauces, tender meat, and mouthwatering appetizers, everything is simply outstanding. This has become my favorite restaurant, and I can’t recommend it enough! **Service**: Dine-in **Meal Type**: Dinner **Food**: 5/5 **Service**: 5/5 **Atmosphere**: 5/5 **Recommended Dishes**: Edamame, American Wagyu, Homemade Gyoza.
Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the host and seated close to the entrance. The place was nearly full, except for the bar, and it seemed that many of the patrons were regulars, as the owners greeted them as returning guests. Our waitress was incredibly helpful in guiding us through the menu. Although I had tried Shabu Shabu before, this restaurant offered a more traditional experience. We kicked off our meal with fried wonton skin served with Wasabi Guacamole, which was absolutely delicious. Following her recommendation, we ordered the Washu beef. The entire dining experience felt ceremonial; our waitress carefully instructed us on how to use the mortar for the sesame sauce and suggested we save the udon for last to soak up the flavors from the broth. We enjoyed about seven slices of the Washu beef, each one flavorful and complemented by fresh vegetables that balanced the meal perfectly. To top it all off, we indulged in a matcha crème brûlée for dessert, which was absolutely divine. The hospitality of the owners was exceptional, and the service was flawless. Overall, dining at Shabu Shabu Zen was a truly zen-like experience.
