The restaurant is in a traditional style and creates a nice atmosphere. The menu is varied and includes fish and veg dishes as well as plenty of meat. Pancake deserts are a feature on the menu. I will always return to this place when I visit Ratingen. Worth a visit.
We have had a dinner at this restaurant. Food was OK, especially fishes were great. Restaurant itself is located in the heart of Ratingen, at the marketsquare. Staff very fast and friendly. Service was really nice and beer was perfect. I can recommened this place and if near by I can come back.
My friend who lives in Ratingen took us here, and even though English is not common around these parts of Germany, the waitress was cordial and accommodating. We went on a Tuesday, and this was the night for specials... "All Schnitzels at 9 Euros". The portions are large enough for two meals, but if you are a big man, then you might as well order your own. There are a variety of beverages, but the coke tasted normal. My friend always recommends the beer :-).
Hunting via GPS for a local place just before the Düsseldorf Messe, we found this place and arrived quite late. We were made welcome and thoroughly enjoyed the typical local food and wine. Our service was good and the waiter helpful. We returned a day or so later and had more good food and talked to the owner perched at the bar. No complaints, in fact, we found the place very hospitable, and the portions quite large. Liked the old building and the traditional decor.
Smiling and welcoming German staff. Menu in English. Pages of local German cuisine along with local beers and Killepitsch to finish.Sometimes when you are travelling, it's hard to get away from international cuisine and food chains - sometimes, you want to eat and drink like a local and enjoy the ambience. A hundred and one things to do with potatoes, pork and cabbage as well as other specialities. The staff were really helpful and described and recommended dishes. I went for a dish which comprised of: sauerkraut, pork chop, local sausage, potatoes cubes fried in onion, garlic and herb and a huge hunk of pork knuckle. All washed down with Schofferhofer Heffe Weise and Killipitsch - I avoided the local brown ale because they are always sold in v.small glasses.Great service - the essence of Germany under one roof. Get away from Holiday Inn, Mercure etc - avoid Dusseldorf and eat here for a great experience.
