They occasionally feature a local band on some Saturdays, which adds to the enjoyable atmosphere. The pros include good food, a great Sunday roast, and amazing staff who are very welcoming. The only con is that I wish they were open longer on Sundays.
My wife and I went to this restaurant for lunch on a Wednesday. It is a wonderful place to dine, with welcoming staff. Unfortunately, my wife was disappointed with her brie sandwich as the bread was not very fresh. However, I had better luck with my choice of the Traditional Atlantic cod, served with chips, mushy peas, and Whitby scampi. The fish was incredibly fresh, soft, and delicious! The manager later confirmed that it was bought fresh, not frozen. The scampi was also very tasty. I enjoyed a nice glass of Timothy Taylors to accompany my meal. If it wasn't for the disappointing sandwich, I would have given this restaurant a higher rating. Overall, it is a charming pub.
I have visited this pub several times recently since it's local. Unfortunately, each time I have encountered a blonde Eastern European barmaid who has been rude to me for various reasons. The food here is decent, but the menu never changes. The atmosphere is lacking and you can hear the small-minded bar patrons gossiping about you. Overall, it is a sad and lonely place that could use some improvement.
We were a family of four and the food was good, especially the chilli con carne. The jacket spuds were huge! There was a vast selection of drinks and the service was prompt and friendly.
Came here for a Sunday roast and wasn't disapointed . The pub was quiet and the staff were welcoming and friendly . There was a choice of meats. Chicken, beef, lamb and pork all served with a Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, parsnips , gravy...and steamed veg. I chose the lamb, It arrived at the table within minutes. To be honest I was expecting the bog standard dry food, but no there was an abundance of meat and it was tender and tasty. The potatoes were to die for, crispy outside, soft inside and they were cooked in garlic and rosemary absolutely gorgeous . To be honest i couldn't finish it as there was soo much If you want a reasonably priced tasty meal in a nice quiet pub then the swan is the perfect place to go
