East Side Mario's - Red Deer

Our visit was nothing extravagant. Pretty tasty food, there was a miscommunication with my order & the waitress was very kind to fix it immediately (even though it was probably my fault). However, we waited a bit of time for her to come around when we asked for things or needed refills. There was nothing extra special about our visit, she didn't go out of her way to go the extra mile, but it wasn't terrible either.I'd say average service, food was good & hot. The restaurant was clean, bathrooms were good. I'd go here again if I was craving pasta, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

I suspect ESM's "we are Italian" is a bit of a joke to real Italians, but for us peon North Americans, it will do. Given that I don't like pasta, I choose to measure this ESMs by what I know best: steak.Mine was done as requested (barely). I say barely because it was so thin, I could hardly see any of the medium rare I ordered. It wasn't spectacular and was certainly not memorable.My partner's fish and wedding soup was reported as OK.Beyond the food, it was server Emily P who made a difference. She made a difference because she was different (to us, at least). Not just a food slinger, but a real person willing to talk about her future.Spent $32+

This evening our family went out to celebrate our daughters 8th birthday at East Side Mario’s and we had a wonderful time. The food is always good at East Side Mario’s but tonight the service made the night. Our server, Amber S., was amazing! She gave us the best service we have received in a very long time. She was the type of server you would normally find in a higher end restaurant, subtle, but 100% on top of it. She was friendly and wished our daughter a happy birthday right at the start. If your water was empty it was refilled without a request the next time you looked at it. Weather it was salad, bread, cheese, or anything else we wanted, she served us like we were the only table in the place. Like many people out there I have become accustomed to servers who just get the job done, if you need something you hail them down and they will get around to you when they can, but not tonight. Well done Amber, I hope East Side Mario’s gets many more like you.

Found their Italian dishes were limited. The good was just OK. The service is good. Good kids menu..
