The female waitress did not make us feel welcome, asked to sit in booth but told they were only for larger groups. The restaurant had very few people and most booths were empty? We ordered the Beef Burger and steak sandwich, the steak was good. Unfortunately the beef burger was not fully cooked and still red in middle. The best part of the experience was meeting Nathan who handled the situation perfectly and professionally. We will return to hopefully have a better experience.
Ribs were dry and the rest of the food underwhelming which then made the price of the food high for what it was. They would not let us sit at our booked table because one of the group was unwell and did not come. Turns out if you only have 3 in a group and there are only 20 people in the whole restaurant you can not have a booth even if it was booked just incase a mad rush of 100 people turn up. For the record about 8 people turned up before we finished our meal.Just a poor experance in general.
I've had oysters all over the world and at some notable seafood restaurants like Doyles at Watson's Bay, in Sydney, but I have never had oysters served freshly shucked, with the "lid" of the oysters still attached to the oyster! They were served cold and without a doubt, the best oysters I have ever had. We were having lunch so we selected the Pig 'N' Whistle Burger and the Pulled Pork Roll. Both were terrific. The staff were really friendly and very professional. The beer is well chilled and the Sauv Blanc on tap, a NZ Marlborough, is also served cold; it's a pity the glasses aren't also kept cold as it takes the edge off the wine a little quicker than if the glasses are cold. We will definitely be back for a dinner meal as the menu is extensive and some of the choices need sampling!
This was our first time to the Pig N Whistle at Redbank and I'm torn on my review. The venue is lovely and we were the only ones dining.Looking at the menu I was disappointed to see they don't offer the Barnsley Chop, but hey they have plenty of other options. What I found hugely disappointing was that with the roast meals they offer chips and salad, firstly when do you ever see chips and salad with a roast meal. I asked if I could substitute to mash potato because I have lost my stomach due to cancer and mash is easier for me to get down. I was told none of the menu items could be substituted but they could take the chips off and I could pay an extra $8 for a side order (no thank you) instead I didn't order a meal so they lost a sale of $33, ok it's not huge amounts but every little helps when it comes to paying staff wages etc. My partners ordered the spare ribs the presentation was superb, I tried some of the spare rib it wasn't soft enough for me. The ribs were tough and lacking flavour. The onion rings were nice. The fish and chips with mushy peas went down very well as did the Yorkshire pudding and onion gravy.Would we return; personally for me I'm not to sure especially as they won't accomodate for people with disabilities especially when you are paying $33.
