The young waiter took my order and came back and said they ran out of whole snapper last night. It was 6 pm on a Saturday and I'm not one for assumptions but I've been in hospitality 30 years and a family run business is what this place appears to be and he should know they ran out yesterday. So I said I'll have the beef masman. Money bags came out. Garnishes were very 70s with 2 slices of orange,a slice of carrot and the bottom of a baby boc choy. The money bag had frozen corn carrot and pea medley and some prawn. Masman beef came. Thin sauce tasted of fruit. Potatoes big and beef all different sizes. Food plus two beers $35. While I was there a table of 4 came in and were seated with menus. The wait staff brought out food and sat and ate while the table of 4 was waiting to order. This place has no love or passion for there food and have forgotten the number one thing. The customer. We a spoiled for choice with Thai in Sydney. I was supporting a local in my area and was really disappointed. I told the waiter after paying for the food I didn't eat to tell the chef where is the love. But I don't think they really give a s#$/. Tired family Thai restaurant with tired decore.
Had dinner with colleagues after training session. Ordered vegetarian spring rolls and chicken satay. Average presentation and taste. Sauces were a huge disappointment and lacked taste and punch (tasted like prepackaged sauce even sweet chilli sauce). Mains ordered were red curry chicken, massaman beef, pad Thai and vegetarian stir fry. Massaman curry was very runny. Pad Thai lacked the requisite holy basil, bamboo and bean sprouts. Couldn't spot any tofu and no crushed peanuts nor lime. Rice wasn't fragrant and lacked fluffiness of hot fresh cooked rice.Service was slow and not attentive.Had maccas afterwards which tasted better!
Most importantly don't be put off when you open the door and you see the stained and torn stair carpet. Upstairs decor isn't much better, but it's worth it for the food. I would definitely recommend going here, but owners please update the decor!
Уютное милое заведение, в котором приятно просто посидеть и насладиться интерьером. Кроме этого еще и вкусная еда.
I've been here a few times and in a city filled with too many Thai places, it can be hard to find the good ones. Yes, this place is upstairs and decor is dated. The food, however, is extremely tasty and reasonably priced. Plus, it's BYO.Must haves include the betel leaf parcels (not on the menu, but always on the chalk board specials). Larb, curries, pad Thai are all good.
