The drinks were fantastic, especially the “El Conejo de Oro,” which was tasty and refreshing. However, the food was mediocre. I had the chicken pesto sandwich, which was dry and not great. The service was generally okay, though there were times when the servers took a while to check on our table. Overall, The State has potential with its great ambiance and excellent drinks, but the food could use some improvement.
We visit Redlands when we spend time in the mountains. When in town we've been frequenting State St. On this trip we went to The State and had a fantastic experience overall. The food was great. We shared short rib tacos and the roasted Brussels sprouts. I asked for extra aioli and use it as a French fry dipping sauce and ate every last fry. They had plain pasta which was great for our kids. The service was exceptional. Our server was on top of everything. Overall it was a 5 star experience. I'd recommend The State and specifically what we ate. It was our first time there so I can't give any expanded menu review but I definitely recommend what we had.
Unfortunately we were ten mins past our grace period because of traffic, I informed them through open table 40 mins beforehand but they did not (or we not able to? accommodate the patio area like I had reserved. Back of the restaurant is really dark and food/drink is mediocre. Aesthetic is cool though, probably a lot better for nightlife.
Very average food drinks were good and prices were fair
Drinks and service are always good at the state. Manager Rob is amazing, checking in with all the tables in the restaurant even bussing tables. Always a good experience at any of their locations.
