I casually asked for five stars worth of spice. He told me their highest is three, with a noted look of surprise. (most restaurants go 1-5 and I think he was going to call the 'Looney bin ' on me thinking I was insane. I replied, 'Okay five stars anyway ' since I had eaten three stars about a week and a half ago and was not impressed by the heat. He was still looking at me in disbelief so I counter offered with 'Okay, four stars then. ' he obliged my request with some hesitation and invited me to write my thoughts here. So here goes; The service and food have always been good. We used to go there when it was around the corner from the Pharmica. The four stars is very hot (Somewhere between habanero and crushed red pepper. but not quite enough for me. I intend to challenge his five stars in front him during lunch soon. Just so he can watch me eat it in person. We really like this place and will continue to get our teriyaki from Niko 's.
Best Teriyaki I've had. Bar none. It's quick, absolutely delicious, and large portions ... enough for two lunches! <br/ <br/ I recommend the Spicy Chicken Teriyaki. It's to die for.
My wife and I stopped here for lunch. She had Chicken Yakisoba, which had lots of fresh vegetables, a generous quantity and she found it very tasty. I had Pork Teriyaki, which also was a generous quantity with a large salad, and I also found it very tasty. They were selling a lot of lunch combos, chicken teriyaki with gyoza, to the regulars. Sharing a parking lot with Trader Joe's, they get a lot of business and will get ours in the future.
Tasty. The food was tasty. We had both beef and chicken an each had a generous amount of teriyaki but it didn't go overboard. It wasn't gloopy and over saturated with sauce. The portions are HUGE. The cabbage salad was a little bland but considering how good it was, and how much for the price, that's very a very minor complaint.
Niko Teriyaki's menu and prices are on the affordable/inexpensive side yet they don't skimp on quality or quantity. Their chicken teriyaki is pretty standard and that isn't a bad thing at all. The chicken teriyaki comes work a small container of additional teriyaki sauce along with a side of salad and it's own small container of ranch dressing. Like many other places, their salad tastes like it came straight out of a premixed packaged salad. The chicken didn't taste burnt at all nor was the rice mushy. The chicken was slightly overcooked (that's standard for teriyaki) but it wasn't dry. The sauce was thicker and stronger/more flavourful and a little saltier than I prefer but that will vary for everyone. Limited parking in front. The parking lot can get crowded on evenings when everyone is doing their grocery shopping.
