After wasting good money eating through out the San Francisco bay area the Old Port Lobster Shack earns my Business every other week. I live in Scottsdale and go outta my way to enjoy the BEST SEAFOOD IN THE BAY!!!
I've been a regular at this restaurant for a long time, but I've become increasingly disappointed. The prices are consistently high, and the portion sizes keep getting smaller. For example, a two-piece fish and chips order costs $22 before tax and tip, and it feels like it could easily reach $28 for that same dish—only with smaller pieces. What used to be two large fish servings has now turned into perhaps three or four smaller pieces, with more breading than before. Overall, I'm very let down and this will be my last visit. The pricing is just absurd.
The pulled pork sandwich is served with pickles and onions, and the brine is different from what I've had at most places—it's slightly sweet and tangy, which I really enjoyed. The pork is house-made, and while it doesn’t come with sauce, the meat is very moist. Even the charred parts were surprisingly tender! Usually, I like to mix in some sauce with my pulled pork, but since the line moved slowly, I didn’t want to wait to ask for it. There was green and red Tabasco on the table, which worked well in place of the sauce. The portion of mac and cheese was on the smaller side (only about 4 oz.), but it was delicious. The onion rings were crispy on the outside, and the onions inside were hot and juicy. I appreciated that the onion rings came with ranch dressing—it's not something you often find without having to ask, so that was a nice touch. I also tried my fiancé's BBQ sauce, and he tried my ranch. We both agreed that both sauces were excellent since we love our condiments. As for prices, they were reasonable, and I ended up taking half of my sandwich home because there was so much meat. That's why I didn’t mind the small portion of mac and cheese. Plus, since the sandwich isn’t swamped in sauce, my dog will enjoy some leftovers when I get home!
This is a fantastic seafood restaurant with a street food vibe and a lot of passion behind the dishes. We visited for lunch and sat outside. We ordered the salmon burgers, seafood Louie salad, a glass of white wine, and a beer. Everything was delightful. Highly recommend!
Really good chowder bread bowls and simple picnic style environment. Lobster reels and salads are good, but really expensive without much flair. I love lobster, but it's still hard to spend this kind of money for lunch. It is fresh and delicious, but simple.
