Play starts at nine pm, so it's a good idea to get there early, I arrived at eight pm, and had no problem finding a seat. There is a big screen that the questions are printed on, for those who missed the question. Cost a buck per player, and you'll need to come up with a team name to enter. The rest is all adult fun, drinks, and eats, all though I never had anything to eat, only drinks.
We went to try out the place as none of us had been there before. The food as well as the beverages were very good for the price. Each of us enjoyed our fare. The staff were great at discussing the meals available and offered some good topics to contemplate as well.
I'll begin by mentioning the excellent service. However, everything else was below average. The smoke in the restaurant was so bad that my eyes were hurting by the time we received our food. The dishes were bland and the portions were small. I had to grab something else to eat on my way back to the office. The total bill came to $18 with the tip, which I felt I had to give due to the server's great service. Overall, I don't plan on returning to this restaurant.
The restaurant offers delicious and budget-friendly food. I highly recommend trying the appetizer ribs - they are fantastic.
Our group of 4 decided to try out dinner at Bobby's for the first time on Saturday night. Surprisingly the place was not very busy, but we left before 9 when the music was starting up, so maybe things picked up later. Our motivation was the great food at the Moose Jaw location and wanted to see if this compared. In terms of decor, this place couldn't be more different. This is a large, spacious, high ceiling space that appears newly renovated. Everything the Moose Jaw location is not! Obviously wanting to check out the staples, we all ordered the fish and chips (next time we will check out the alternatives). We had great service and the food was delivered very quickly - certainly faster than we had expected. The fish and chips were as good as we remembered in Moose Jaw, moist and flaky with not too much batter. These may very well be some of the best I've had in the city, and are contenders for displacing the more heavily battered wakker fare I usually opt for a couple blocks west on Dewdney. My only observation was the inconsistency of the portion sizes between the 4 of as at the table. They also had a pretty good draught selection, including some local fare. I would have been happier if they would carry my favourite Nokomis brown ale as well. All in all it left a good first impression.
