It is a peaceful, well-lit, and spacious establishment with a delicious light lunch menu that includes jacket potatoes, paninis, a daily soup, and other options. The dishes are beautifully presented with a fresh salad garnish. The cake selection is also impressive. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always happy to help. I am a frequent visitor here and have found it to be the best option in Horley compared to other establishments.
I've stopped at the Atrium several times now, whilst shopping in Collingwood Batchellor. It is a spacious, light cafe and has the added benefit of opening on Sundays. It offers a selection of cakes and traybakes, as well as light lunches, such as jacket potatoes and toasted sandwiches. Both the portion sizes and prices are reasonable. The format is more canteen than cafe select cold drinks from the fridge, order hot drinks and food at the counter and pay, then take your tray to a table, collect your own cutlery and condiments and hot food is brought to you at the table. Overall, the atmosphere is relaxing and the food is tasty, but it has the potential to be more of a go to destination, rather than a convenient stop off as you're passing through.
I’ve been in here many times. Mostly retired people with family. The staff are very polite and the food is not bad. Spotlessly clean and well presented. The store is a privately owned family run long established company and they take pride in their business . It’s a nice place to relax and have a snack. The store has a wide variety of goods and has a really good modern furniture department. They move with the times. They cater for the older customer but also for the young. Worth a visit, especially if your looking to furnish a new home. Whoever is the buyer for this place has a really good eye for style and design.
Ladies and gentlemen... Prepare to be absolutely, unwaveringly and unexpectedly blown away by this fabulously fantastic food experience! Collingwood Batchellor's fabled Atrium Coffee Shop is simply to die for! From their sumptuous coffee to their splendid selection of teas they boast the most becoming of beverages; the most highly exquisite of the sort in town by an Irish country mile. The sizes aren't stupid, nor are the prices pretentious. With such an excellent establishment in town I no longer need to buy coffee in for the house. Why I doubt I'll ever make a cup of coffee or tea at home ever again! As for the nosh, it may seem a bit basic at first you but you will soon enough discover that it is in fact one of their many strengths. Sourdough cake? Avocado milk? Non-dairy nut bars? Not here sir! Collingwood Batchellor offers REAL grub to satisfy a true Englishman's righteous senses. I'm talking toast. I'm talking scones. I'm talking toasted sandwiches, jacket potatoes and lunches fit for a Ploughman. Bravo! Delicious! They even gain extra points by keeping it local, exclusively using bread from the splendid Metro Bakery in the Chalk Hill Centre. Did I mention the scones? Oh the scones! Homemade scones, baked fresh with love and happiness every morning and consumed gratefully by the fortunate sons and daughters of Horley by the end of each day. Many a townsperson would beg to introduce a new village resident to these staples of our society. I for one am lucky enough to have spread the holy message of Collingwood's scones almost as many times as I have spread jam and cream onto one. Alas, one cannot review Colllingwoods Batchellor's Atrium Coffee Shop without mentioning the superiority of its staff. Service with a smile? Try service with unparalleled wit and unlimited laughter! Oh they really are a smashing bunch and well worth their weight in gold, which is rather fitting when you consider the golden rays of sunlight that the café bathes in all year round thanks to those majestic shop windows. In summary, Collingwood Batchellor's Coffee Shop ticks all the boxes that an institution of such grandeur should. Quality consumables? Yes! Top-notch service? Absolutely! A chance to relax and enjoy a spot of people-watching? Well if you say so! So finally, as I reach the conclusion of my review, I ask you this: Would you deny yourself a gift from the heavens?
If you frequent Collingwood Bachellor's you will find this cafe on the first floor. It feels like a comfortable space and natural light floods in, if it's not a miserable day weather wise. The scenery is not the best, car park, busy railway and Gatwick over-flights. Hmm, the staff? They can be a real mixed bag as we have encountered from good to somewhat indifferent over the months. Unfortunately it does somewhat colour the mood of the visit.
